Teague looked exhausted in the press conference....amazing he keeps it all under control. I also see a nice grey patch coming through his golden locks

Honestly I'll tell yah what I liked about this game, through the eyes of a fan who really doesn't like Essendon* and nothing more.

I liked how they kept kicking out to a contest when they barely had a tall on the ground. Dumb I thought. I liked how easy it was to knock McGrath off the ball, I know he's still young but I don't understand the hype surrounding him being the answer in the midfield. Dare I say it, he's very vanilla. I'm yet to see anything that suggests Darcy Parish is living up to the expectations of a top 10 pick. He's small, soft and lacks any weapons. For a guy that gets so much love for being dynamic and gifted Tippungwuti barely gets near it most weeks. I especially like reading and/or talking with Essendon* supporters, they crack me up every time. My mate says to me that 5 are missing from their best 22, I consulted the injury list and I only recognise 2 names on it. They have their problems and they are always kinda 'thereabouts' but 'thereabouts' won't get you very far and I honestly don't see any young talent coming through, nor any competition for spots and the more they continue to overestimate their list the better for me....:)

we shouldnt mention soft vanilla because some of our players are in similar grounds but 1 pt win covers that.Anyway people remember when they were praising dodoro wat terrific job in recruiting he is ,attracting elite players to club .easy to do wen you give your first around selection .Now keeps JD instead of 2 first rd.Essendon* age group means finals and i cant see them going to far.

They're still so salty. Got a txt 24 hours later, about 7:30 last night, from a * supporting colleague. Still-frame of the body-on body on the goal-line before Mark Schwartzer.. I mean Liam Jones.. headed the ball. Reckons there were two * players being held and should have had free kicks.

So with a completely straight face he reckons the dying seconds should have been:

- free against Eddy
- 50 (70) against Eddy
- free in the goalsquare

Best thing to do in those situations is reply "I agree!"

What did Eddie do wrong? The kicker ran out of the square so Eddie ran at him. Is that right or did I miss something?

Pretty sure I heard him say play on before he called 50 too :screwy:

Yes, he did. Only after calling play on did the two Scum players have the right to block Eddie. (Btw, the infringement was high contact.)
So it can't possibly be 50 metres. The only option is advantage, play on.
The distance of the penalty was caused by two umpires being involved: normally the controlling umpire paces out the distance but this time the umpire up the ground took over.

I watched the game a day after listening to it on the radio and following you all on the match thread. So my viewing was a bit less emotional than usual.
I'm not a huge fan of Plowman but I can't see how he deserves such negativity for this game. He was very solid and very few errors. Maybe people still expect SOS, like every wicket keeper after Gilchrist wasn't a good enough batsman.
Very happy that second tier players stood up.
Team is harder at it now (even Murphy!).

I didn't know that. I thought he was Thorold Merrett's grandson.

I'd be replacing Plowman with Marchbank when he's right to go. A better player IMO.

B. Docherty Weiters Marchbank
HB. Simpson/SPS Jones Willo

Not sure about that Rexy I thought Plow was a bit down on Saturday but is durable and can play on a number of defenders and is a seasoned senior player Marchbank potentially is a better player but never gets on the park due to injury and often when Jones and weiters play when he does play which is very rare plays on a wing because they don’t know where to put him
Is potentially very good Marchbank but almost the least durable player on our list thought that was Williamson but I think Marchbank wins the prize now

I like Plowman but his mistakes almost always cost goals. I thought he was too easily moved

Pretty close to what I saw... (don't know about the points, but that's the bests... Except I would have had Ed there too. When they said at the end of the game that Shiel had 20 possies or something??... was the first time I realised he was playing

BTW, for me, the best for then was McGrath..(no idea how many possies).. . He was miles ahead for pressure, throwing himself in, even when he would not get it etc, etc... The rest of them were waiting for someone else to do the work

I thought Murph deserved a vote or two. On a night with a lot of mistakes, fumbles and turnovers, he was one of the very few who consistently handled it cleanly and used it well. Very influential IMO.

As much as I have an absolute rager for Cunners, I reckon Levi and Doc we’re slightly ahead, purely because he missed his shots on goal and missed a few targets going inside 50. If he nailed those he would have been clear BOG

He is polarising... i think the thing with him is that although he is solid 80% of the time, as Desi said, his mistakes always cost us goals. He tends to get pushed out of the contest far too easily and just makes some fundamental errors that drive me insane. He's OK but I think we'll be a far better side when players like plow struggle to hold their spot

That push you are referring to last week was potentially an ITB.
He is forced to go body on body sometimes because of the person he plays on and he isn't strong enough for that. He lost one similar contest against Dusty that the behind the goals camera clearly showed Dusty holding him down by the jumper.
If you make a mistake in the back pocket, it is usually going to result in a score involvement. If you make a mistake on the HFF, it doesn't. Who made more mistakes? Plowman or Cunningham? Cunningham cost us three goals on the weekend by skill errors. Missed two sitters and then missed a golden opportunity to hit a lead up forward and instead kicked it over his head to the sweeper. Gets coach's votes for costing us three goals? No. He played very well. Everybody is allowed to make mistakes or get beaten in a contest.
Criticism of backs for making one or two mistakes always reminds me of when Houllhan once played on Daicos and TC went mad because Daicos kicked five. Houlihan should be dropped or even hung by the neck until dead. The fact he kept Daicos to six possessions for a game of football and that Daicos couldn't have kicked some of those flukes if he had had ten attempts was completely ignored.
One day, people on here will realise that you don't have to be best on ground every week to hold down a spot in the team. You have to be solid. You have to play your role. You don't have to go at 100%, you only have to give it 100%.
