Thanks, I appreciate the sentiment;although not quite sure if it's a compliment or an insult.

Unfortunately, I was a bit indisposed, drugged up in an anaesthetic, post-op stupor, so unable to comment...

Eddie encroached the 10m protected area before Saad left the goal square. This happened before he was illegally blocked by Gleeson.

Finally, regarding the 50m penalty, the free-kick should be awarded 69m from the goal line (9m goal square + 10m protected zone + 50m penalty).

Thanks. Sort of explains it ... sort of.

Thing is, does it pass the ‘reasonableness’ test? i.e. would they have paid it in a grand final with 1 min to go and 2 points the difference?

Of course not, even though I side with Leigh Matthews who disagrees with the philosophy and trend of “putting away the whistle” in a grannie. If they’re being paid throughout the year why change or bend the rules for the final game?

It’s the inconsistencies that make me shake my head.

It's nice to actually want to watch some of the panel shows on a Sunday. Does Rex Hunt still do one, it's been that long for me I reckon.

I really couldn’t understand why people were trying to defend what Merrett did. When a professional athlete running at top speed punches you of course it’s going to hurt.

Got out of jail and baggered the 4 points. Always extra good to do it against the cheating shits.

Huge bonus to have Martin and Cunners step up the last 2 weeks and have a big say on the games. The more the workload is shared the more it makes us unpredictable to the opposition.

Murphy's switch to the outside has also be a big plus for the team overall. Hold this form Murph and don't drop off this intensity.

Levi as well has been a big concern for the opposition. That helps Gov which I'm sure he appreciates.

Doc is a real pro. Such a great example to our young blokes.

As I see it (according to https://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/2019%20Laws%20of%20Australian%20Football.pdf...

Eddie encroached the 10m protected area before Saad left the goal square. This happened before he was illegally blocked by Gleeson (#8).

However...Redman (#27) had not vacated the protected area as he was required to do.

Therefore, it is possible that two players from opposing teams were in breach of the rule simultaneously, which should have seen play restarted with a ball-up (at the top of the square, I presume).

Finally, regarding the 50m penalty, the free-kick should be awarded 69m from the goal line (9m goal square + 10m protected zone + 50m penalty).

Thanks for sort of clearing that up.
The same thing has probably happened about 100 times so far this round yet not one other has been paid.

They were talking about it on the channel 9 footy show.
They were divided, although they agreed Merrett is in trouble based on the outcome.
Trying to say it was a tackle is a joke. he had a clenched fist.
Merrett will likely miss a week I would have thought.

Cunningham,Setterfield,Gibbons............there it is right there...........second tier onballers getting more of the pill and thus releasing the burden on the big dogs. Many hands make light work.An extremely even performance with every single player contributing at some stage...................a nice even effort for mine.

Roundarm fist to the ribs is a "tackle"?

Spare me.

Pros

Did what we had to do to get the W - were the better team all night just struggled with conversion.
Doc outstanding - controls the game from behind the ball and we’ve sorely missed his skills.
Weiters and Jones do it again.
Cunners outstanding - break out game.
Willo and Setters both good.
Levi and Gov great - fought through whilst often outnumbered.
Won without Crippa having an influence.
Ed very good on Shiel.
SPS held Tippa well.
Pitto big late.
Murphy massive last quarter - a lot of class and brought the intensity too.
Philp very nervous but will be better for the run - showed a couple of glimpses.
2-2 record - very much in the mix.

Cons
JSOS injury - playing 1 down from the first quarter for 3/4 games this year.
Conversion - should have put them away in the third quarter and won by 3-4 goals.
Those two 50s - terrible. We should be asking questions of the umpiring department behind the scenes this week.

Yeah, and he ran well past the mark before he came back to it, he didn’t cut in. I can’t understand it.
