Interesting take on it BBW.
Can see where ou're coming from.

DeKonning needs games and he's athletic, but I reckon JSOS Harry Casboult is plenty of marking power, then there's a leaner Gov who like Andrew Walker, can jump and clunk them, and kick straight.

Gawn vs Pittonet because Pitto can give Gawn a workover and put him off his game.
He's their start button.

Then there's the contested ball after that: Cripps vs Petracca and Viney.
You'd think Gibbo would be good for that role and might just make up for his last game.
Murphs doesn't like it in the furnace but we've always got Curnow who loves the heat of the contest: that's his gig.

Casboult has been so good all over the ground but cannot be expected to carry the load. They may try just Casboult with support from Jones and McKay. If this were the case then probably Newnes would play instead of De Koning. The only other option would be to drop either Dow or Silvagni. De Koning is the future and we have to get games into him. I think the time is right. Pittonet is a workhorse and I just don't see him as a long term prospect.

If our midfield does not perform this year then we are going nowhere. I hope that the youngsters will take the next step. Setterfield, Dow and Fisher need to become dominant.
I have high hopes for Philp.

I think it all comes down to hope we start - give them 4 odd goals before we begin will be just another suicide - its the one area Teague seems to be struggling with - no good running out half-switched on. If we can go from the very first blow of the whistle then I expect us to win by about 3 goals. If not it will be another where we lose by the margin we gave away at the beginning.

Not just a Teague thing - I think the side has suffered this for quite some time now - Very rarely do we get off to a good start - I think the last time we did is when we were 5 goals to nil against Richmond then faded away .

It will be really interesting how team come out of this break it may suit some and not others - It has been good for us on the injury front with Betts and Harry being available

It has been a totally crap year lets hope our Blue Boys can bring us some joy to offset it

The way Philp has been training and playing in the preseason has really surprised me.

He IS the future. Speed to kill.

Then watching him in the training clip yesterday with tackling allowed, and he doubles back and runs through the middle of the pack...3 players...and comes out the other side; Literally splitting the pack. Impressive. Great side step.

He is a weapon...got outside speed but considered an inside mid.

I expect him to be named as an emergency like he was in round 1

Maybe too light against Gawn anyway.
He's the future for sure but Gawn is a monster. Better a bigger bodied ruck.

In Russell's Injury Round up interview, Russell says he's known Pittonet from the start of his career and Pitto has never been in better condition:
He is leaner but same weight as before lockdown, so he's put on a lot of muscle = strength.

He is going to push Gawn hard.

Pitto has nothing to lose.
Pitto is an aggressive beast.
Pitto can make a name for himself in this contest

I am looking forward to this contest, and if Pitto can take away that advantage, and soften up Gawn....corks him a few times to slow him down......

We have had a pretty long recent history of recruiting dud ruck men from other clubs - let’s hope Pittonet breaks the mould.

Probably Harry.
Matty Allan early in his career was ok. Then he became the best ruckman in the comp and as luck would have it, started to develop stress fractures.
Ports may have been ok too, but we then traded him cos we had Matty Allan.
That was followed by a string of dud ruckmen till we got Kreuz and Sauce. We traded and Sauce and then Kreuz started to have injury issues and then his body couldn't do what he and we hoped.

At one point I thought Matty Allan was brownlow material. He could play!

He's not a star, but like Kreuzer he is hard at it.

He is much better than that ruKkman from Saints? Port? Ackland?

We exchange Philips for Pittonet over the trade period.
He looks like an upgrade, but then again Philps looks like the Messiah at *

I back Pitto over Philpis for Gawn this week.....I mean in 2 and a bit weeks.

Lets he Pitto doesnt get injured in the next 3 weeks.
If so, lucky the Northern Blues without a ruckman.

I'm seeing 35 on the list next year or 36, 37, 38...

Pitto & co will be playing for a spot on the list.
Only 16 rounds to go ....before finals.
Kreuzer will be back by then, ditto DeKoning in round 3 or 4.

Yeah he was. He was hot.

Last injury free ruck was Madden. French got stronger over time ...he was ok...that's another story

TDK will be the new model of a ruckman if they keep the games shorter and keep on trying to open them up.
He looks like a Natanui type in the making s far as his agilityy is concerned. They need to build him a decent tank to go with it. Levi or even Harry can spell him. He just has to get on and then stay on the park.
