Nice position to be in. I recon Newman will play as well for his kicking skills off HB.
I think they will go for 6 interchange under pressure from the clubs, otherwise, three of Gibbons, Philp, Jack, Cunningham and Setterfield are in strife out of that selection.
We need run against Geelong at Geelong. No point trying to play the wings as there aren't any. We need someone in the middle who can accumulate possessions, a link man with good skills. For me that's Martin, Murphy or maybe SPS.

Fisher probably not available.

Looks a pretty good side actually. I think we will win this one.

Good side but as much as I'm a fan of Dows potential, I'd play Cuningham first.
He has the ability to hit the scoreboard.
I suspect Fisher will be OK so I'd also play him before Gibbons or Silvagni.

I think we will be too top heavy and slow with Pittonet in the team, better to go with Casboult and play like we did in the second half against Richmond.

Plowman Jones Simpson
Docherty Weitering SPS
Walsh Cripps Newnes
Cuningham Levi Martin
Eddie Harry Gov
Pitto Ed Murph
JSOS Newman Gibbons Setterfield

In: Harry, Eddie and Pitto
Out: Kreuz, Dow and Fish

Newman has been back in full training since the restart so should be ready to go. Fish not yet in full training so I doubt we risk him. If he’s fit, he comes in for Setterfield.

Massive game. We can’t be 0-2 heading down to Geelong for round 3. The poor starts to the season need to end here. Think we’re every chance. Need to be on from the first bounce. Go blues

I feel we will start with some bigger bodies...something like:

Docherty Jones Plowman
Simpson Weitering Newman
Walsh Cripps Newnes
Martin Casboult Cuningham
McGovern McKay Betts
Pittonet ECurnow Murphy
Setterfield Gibbons Petrovski-Seton Kennedy

Fair enough. Dees have a solid core of strong inside mids, and expect Oliver to go head to head against Cripps.
Oliver will look for more outside ball than Cripps. That's an interesting match up.

There's certainly a case for bigger bodies against Demons, especially in the midfield.
Following his good first up game Newnes will most likely keep his spot.
Newman is relatively big but can see SPS groomed for the HBF role till Murphy and Curnow are puched out of the middle imo.

The 2 players who want to make amends for round 1 are Setterfield and Gibbons.
Dow did well imo, better than the abovementioned, he just didn't have the strength to bust through packs as he liked.
Of these 3 players you have dropped Dow for Kennedy. Yeah there's a size difference, but also a speed difference too.

Obvoiusly Pittonet for Kreuzer due to injury.

I wouldn't have Kennedy in that side in place of Dow. If Fish is available he is in otherwise Dow.

B: Plowman Jones Simmo
HB: Docherty Weitering SPS
C: O’Brien Cripps Newnes
HF: Murphy McGovern Martin
F: Betts Harry SOJ

R: Casboult E Curnow Walsh

Inter: Cunningham, Fisher, Newman, Pittonet

In: Betts, Harry, O’Brien, Pinnonet
Out: Kreuzer (inj), Dow, Gibbons, Setterfield

I like the potential of Setterfield & Dow but I was disappointed with them in round 1. I would give LOB a go and tell him to run and run and run. If Fish doesn’t come up, then Gibbons holds his place.

well spotted ctb ... Fish ahead of Kennedy and Dow. I have Dow ahead of Kennedy unless its purely for a Forward line role

Left field selection.

Philp on a wing.

Will not happen. Unfortunately.

Hmm perhaps a right field selection instead? Pop him on the opposite wing?

I think it will be JSoS, if not Kennedy.

I've been advised that due to 'up and coming' umpires not being able to practice in lower leagues they will be placed with senior umpires to get match day experience.

Umpires have already been appointed for our game.

Brace yourself for ordinary umpiring.

It can't be too bad. Eleni is in isolation in SA so we don't cop her for at least 1 game!

At least Eleni is easier on the eye in some games where our performances are bad.
