We've coughed up 5 goal turnarounds in 15 of teagues games now.

I'd also argue now that the year is virtually dusted that we are a long way off having a premiership caliber defence. Weitering is a star but it falls away after that . Doc is hardly captain material right now granted he is coming back from an ACL. Plowman is still prone to some very poor games and efforts. Jones is prone to regular brain fades and turnovers. SPS isn't a defender. Polson is barely hanging on. Marchbank is injury prone. Williamson hmm.

Get Frank Discussion.
Play him in the midfield.

I agree, yet we kept them to 6 goals and the team defence has been good till the players tire for a period...usually the last quarter of late

One of the biggest issues with our list at the moment is we don’t actually know what we’ve got, especially in the midfield. Cunners, Kennedy, Fisher, SPS, LOB, Dow, Stocker, Philp and Kemp. Some too young to judge and others almost 5 years on the list. The one similarity with these guys is we don’t know what they will give us for the next 5-10 years. Can enough of them become quality midfielders? If not, can they become quality players in other areas of the ground? This year hasn’t provided much clarity given we’ve had no proper reserves comp and most of these guys haven’t had a chance to play midfield in the seniors. We really just need a couple of these guys to come on as quality AFL midfielders and we’ll be flying.

Until this happens, we continue to rely on a banged up Cripps, 30 years olds Ed and Murph, Walsh (who has been great) and Setters (who is coming along well). We need to run 6-7 deep on the midfield and we need variety (mix of inside and outside players).
