Indeed they are.
They shouldn't. I might call and ask.

Feels like we’ve been in shutdown since 2002 anyway.

None of us know what goes on behind the scenes, but it seems a bit distasteful if players are complaining about taking paycuts for doing nothing while football staff are getting laid off left, right and centre.

The players aren’t fighting their clubs they are fighting the AFL

There’s a fair portion of the players who can’t afford cuts either.

Not all of them are earning large sums.

The bottom halves of the lists lose 50% of their wages would hurt a lot.

I’ve also heard of some players fighting so they can help fund club employees.

I’m tipping those on low ages can live with parents, like most seem to be doing. Including those interstate returning home.

At that age 22-23 I was on $32k, I survived, and had a mortgage too.

Instead of a proportional cut they should all go on a minimum wage for the duration. Covid-19 doesn’t discriminate and they are all in this together

Perfect opportunity to restructure a broken competition. Watch as the AFL f*cks this up.

Agree.

I want to know why the Commission / Executives in the AFL are only looking at a 20% pay cut.

Everyone should be on a minimum wage, and maybe age a consideration.

I thought we did really well against the reigning Premiers.

A few players (Setterfield, Dow, Gibbons, and to a lesser extent Cuningham, Newman and McGovern) may be a tad embarrassed in their prformance in round 1.

This break may be a great oppotunity for them to fix up their faults and weaknesses.

Dow and Setters getting bigger and stronger
Gibbons and Newman to work on speed.
McGovern to work on his running game/ stamina.
Don't know what Cunners needs other than a sports psych.

Eddie and Harry recover and ready to play.

Charlie only misses 6-7 games of the 17 played (if they do play that many).

Unless the Fed/State Govts withdraw the funding I'd expect it to go full steam ahead and get people working again.

Actually, Bondi, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes ahead on the basis thy need another boutique stadium to manage small crowds like WB and NM v interstate clubs. It holds what? 20K? Thy could up that to 30 fairly reasonably. The women's comp is (was) committed to PP and that in itself warrants a continuation.
As Rexy said, the State and Fed govts might push ahead to provide stimulus to the area.

Good points by you and Rexy.

Can see it happening now.
