I would be interested to hear others thoughts. Anyway my pros and cons are as follows:

Pros
- Martin looks a gun recruit
- Docherty appears to be moving as well as ever.
- I liked the look of DeKoning in the preseason matches
- It sounds like Philp played well in the preseason match against Collingwood and he looked good for the short time he was on the field against the Dockers.
- Williamson appears to be over his back problems (touch wood)
- Cunningham hasn't been injured for a while (touch wood)
- SPS and Weiters looked really good against Richmond

Cons
- Dow doesn't appear to have improved
- Ditto Setterfield
- McKay's prolonged groin injury a concern
- Marchbank injured yet again
- Will Charlie get back to 100%? Will he ever get a good run with injury?

On the bright side alot of the injuries will have sorted by May 31. Dow worried me, doesn't seem to have got any bigger. Setterfield will be ok. won't judge him after one game.

Working out the maths, our score of 81 in a 64 min games is the equivalent of scoring 102 in a full game. So we are scoring ok. A bad 1st qtr and a poor last 5 min a 2nd qtr we had dominated for most of essentially cost us the game. We were nicely on top for the rest of the game.

Agree with all this.

Another pro: Ruck depth. Cas looked good in the ruck round 1, good pre-season signs from TDK and Pitto looks serviceable.

Main con: I’m still unsure whether our 2-5 year players are good enough. Weiters, Walsh and SPS looking good. Charlie and Harry big injury concerns. Cunners, Jack, Fish, Willo and TDK showing signs but we still need to ultimately see more. Dow and Setterfield disappointing so far. Haven’t seen O’Brien or Stocker this year - concerning that neither cracked the team to play Freo which was missing 8-10 best 22 players. I’m hopeful on a lot of these guys but can’t say I’m at all certain we’ve got enough quality to make us into a contender down the track.

The Carlton Board certainly agreed too.
