Pretty much the strongest team we could put out there with who’s available.

Shouldn’t that always be the case?

Some would argue that Williamson or O’Brien should be in. Or someone else I guess. Most weeks during the season people get annoyed by the side chosen.

It’s the most catastrophic outcome imaginable.....but it’s very 2020. Bushfires, Coronavirus, Essendon* get to #17 first via a compromised premiership. It all makes sense.

Jack Martin to fulfil his wish of playing in front of massive crowds.....

It shows how we only see a tiny fraction through the practice games because LOB and Willo both looked pretty good in the Collingwood praccy and the Marsh series but aren’t in our best 22.

I’m really excited for tonight!

Someone suggested to me today that both AFL and NRL (governing bodies) don't want to play, but by forging ahead and having someone get sick and government block it, would mean force majeure and a favourable insurance result.

Makes sense.

I believe the governments call on a Levl 4 ban on Flights abroad triggers travel insurance payout and maybe all reimbursments, with the airline's insurance triggered to cover the uninsured.

I think so verbs.

Its easy to make a case for Williamson and O'Brien too with the preseason they had, and to a lesser extent argue for DeKoning.

I can't believe we are starting the season without both our key forwards and AA small forward in round 1.

Can we do the unthinkable and win this?

We have both captains leading defence and midfield, both with AA jackets.
Potential AA CHB and FB.
Walsh will make the AA squad in 2020

We would have won the Lions game if red time goals were not kicked against us.
The 16 minute quarters and no crowd will work in our favour.

The 21-25yo to get us over the line.

I think they can bring the required intensity.
They know what they have to do.

Will Teague come out of this game as a genius?

As a slightly related aside, I would love to read a headline something like: Dusty who? He's not even the best Martin on the field!

In short, I'm going with...................no, the Lions were just playing with us.

But I'm secretly  hoping otherwise.

In previous years I've gone into this game feeling optimistic. Not this time. The only thing that can possibly keep it close is the shortened quarters.
Our starting mids are very good, but we fall away fairly quickly compared to them. Our backline is not a problem I don't think. I truly believe we have one of the better backlines in the comp and Jones and Weiters are amongst the better FB/CHB combos in the league. Cannot see how our forwardline kicks anything even resembling a competitive score though. Would be relying heavily on our mids to hit the scoreboard and at least 10 goals combined from Gov, Cas, SOJ and Martin. Even that may not be enough.
Hope I'm wrong and we shock everyone tonight.
Go Blues!

All the best everyone.
Enjoy the chance to take a break from the upheaval created by the Virus.
Hopefully we can listen to Da da da da dah at the end of the game.
