Come back via the twos??

Actually 5th MT isn't a bad injury,
When they were saying broken bone in the foot I was thinking the ones around the ankle... Would be game over if that was the case.
Good luck with the recovery

Go Blues

Retire him and open another list space for whatever mini-draft the AFL concocts. He’s done and we can’t @#$%&! do this anymore.

MK has been a battler all his career. We all love his heart and effort but he has never lived up to the #1 status we gave him. We could have had Cotchin, who was the main contender, or Cyril or Danger...
He is like your old Commodore you sink money into every time it breaks down but you are OK with it because you love it and you have a backup.
The problem is, we are a business as well as a sporting club.
If we were an Uber driver and MK were our car, we'd have replaced him long ago for something more reliable and versatile. The old Commodore might be OK for a weekend drive to Torquay but on a week to week basis earning money for you, it just won't cut.
The cub has treated MK more like the Commodore and less like the car you need to earn you money. Bad decision. We should have gone hard for Witts when he wanted a trade. I was all for it but as usual was shouted down by the usual suspects.
Anyway, Good luck to Matthew. It isn't his fault he was taken at #1 and it isn't his fault he has has a bad run with injuries and one can never take away the fact he loves the club and busted his arse for us for many years. He must be devastated that he will miss another season. I hope he recovers as speedily and as fully as possible.

Dislocated elbow to Nic Newman and a syndesmosis injury to Zac Fisher.

Does wearing our jumper turn you into glass?

Interesting to read that Newman will have surgery on his elbow.
My hubby was booked in the have a shoulder replacement in a private hospital last Friday. The federal government announced that there would be no elective surgeries from midnight Wednesday, so his was cancelled.
This must mean that elbow surgery is not classed as elective, rather it is life and death.
He injured himself almost two weeks ago so only now is he having surgery.
Just wondering why his surgery will go ahead. Special treatment?

Essential service, when it comes to Carlton players.

But in all seriousness, how can a football get to have surgery on a non life threatening condition?
I really would like to know, there are people who are in serious pain, who have been waiting for months or longer who had theirs cancelled.
This is a directive from the federal government to cancel these surgeries to free up beds.

add Kreuzer that those 2 long term injuries and round 1 caused a lot of damage.

Just bad luck.

This Covid 19 break may just be a blessing for Carlton FC.

Resume season end May ??? with Harry Fish Marchy Bettsy and maybe Fish.

Leaves Kreuzer, Charlie and Newman on the mend, but not far away for the latter part of the shortened season.

Is t a workers' comp claim?
If so does that make it a separate category?

Yes, it was a work injury.
Only category 1 and some category 2 cases could go ahead. Apparently a shoulder replacement is a category 3.
He was booked into a private hospital.
He has been told he will now have to wait at least 6 months.
Clearly a dislocated elbow is classed as a category 1 or 2.
Or is it?

All elective surgeries in both private and public hospitals were cancelled.

Season likely over for star Blue after another knee setback

Charlie Curnow's return date pushed back following another knee setback
By Riley Beveridge - Just now
Charlie Curnow has suffered yet another knee setback. Picture: AFL Photos

CHARLIE Curnow's 2020 season appears to be over, after the star Carlton forward sustained a further setback to his troublesome right knee problem.

A further six weeks could be added to Curnow's likely return date, after he sustained a hairline stress response in the bone while rehabbing from dual knee injuries at his family home in Torquay.

BLUES' SHUTDOWN REPORT CARD Weapons, downfall, more

"Ultimately his patella is showing us that there is still a weakness around one of the original screw holes," Carlton footy boss Brad Lloyd said in a statement.

"This stress response is an indication to us that his knee requires more time to heal.

"Charlie is walking around with only a small amount of discomfort. He does not require any surgery, but given the nature of this injury, it’s likely this will result in a four to six week setback.

"It remains difficult to determine if Charlie will be ready to play this season. However, it does appear more unlikely than likely.

"We will continue to manage the situation to ensure the long-term interests of Charlie and his time in the game are protected, while also supporting him throughout this time as he continues his recovery."

Serious blow for Carlton as Curnow limps off

Charlie Curnow heads down to the rooms after a collision to his right knee

Curnow was initially forced to have surgery in October after suffering a dislocated kneecap while playing non-competitive basketball with teammates, before slipping on tiles in November and fracturing the patella on the same knee.

He underwent further surgery after the second setback, with fears the promising young forward could miss most of the 2020 season as a reason of the dual blows.

Speaking with the club website last week, Curnow said he was confident of returning at some stage throughout the upcoming season – which is currently in the midst of a suspension period as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"I'm hoping to play footy this year and I'm definitely not ruling anything out … I'm pretty confident I will," Curnow said.

Curnow had already endured an injury-riddled 2019 campaign, playing just 11 matches after suffering in-game collision injuries to the same right knee against both Port Adelaide and Fremantle.
