Superstar Blue joins club greats with third B&F in thrilling count

CARLTON star forward Charlie Curnow faces a delayed start to pre-season after injuring his troublesome right knee playing basketball during the week.

Curnow will head for surgery in coming days.

The 22-year-old was absent from the club’s best and fairest on Friday night.

Curnow twice injured his knee during the 2019 season, first missing three matches after the first setback in March.

He then re-injured it in June and missed the final seven games of the season.

Curnow's latest injury happened when he was playing with friends in a casual, non-competitive environment.

More to come

A poster on bigfooty reckons that Charlie will only be out of action for 8 weeks.
Hope he's right.

The Carlton Football Club can confirm forward Charlie Curnow has experienced a right knee injury.

Curnow was playing non-competitive basketball with teammates when he fell and experienced discomfort, at which time he contacted the Club’s medical staff.

After further assessment it has been determined that the 22-year-old will undergo surgery on Monday which will be a ligamentous repair to stabilise the patella.

Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said the surgery will allow Curnow to make a full recovery in preparation for next season.

“We are confident surgery will be the right course of action to allow him to recover fully,” Lloyd said.

“We expect he will be back running prior to Christmas as he prepares for the start of the 2020 season.

“While Charlie is really disappointed, he is determined to attack his rehab and do everything he possibly can to get back to his best and help his teammates achieve success next year.”

I really hope our luck turns on the injury front soon. I think people under-rate the impact injuries have on a club’s season. Richmond are a great side but no injuries in 2017-18 and this year they had the healthiest list in September. When they did get injuries early in the season, they struggled. The fact the Lions had no injuries this year really contributed to their rise. I think I read they had around 11 players play all 22 games and we’ve had 2 for two straight years. If our luck can turn, then watch out. I’m at least buoyed by the fact he should be running by Xmas and we won 5/9 without him under Teague. Still very frustrating

Relax people, he is being managed by Russell. The best in the business. He is most likely still developing core strength in that growing body. It is only November. Getting Harry's body right is the prime concern, plenty of time until the season begins. Short term downtime for long term gain.

This also worries me. If even Russell can’t get these guys right during offseason then we’re [REDACTED].

Until after Christmas?
He'll be on a modified program for only another 4 weeks. The season doesn't start for 4 months. I don't see a need to jump off the cliff just yet.

I’d rather Harry come back fat and rested rather than obsessed with skin folds leading to bad groins.

He finished the season with a groin problem.
If that's the case, it shouldn't be flaring up again after ten training sessions if he had a program over the break.
If he hasn't gotten over it since August, I wonder if the prognosis is as rosy as they are saying.
