Yeah I suppose the Carlton Football Club should of
Not appointed Pagan and Malthouse
Had Whitnall and Stevo fitter
Told Elliott to @#$%&! off sooner
Told Jeanie she shouldn’t be on a footy board
Told Smorgo to not bother being President
Told Sticks not to be Pres because he was punching above his weight
Told Hughes that he couldn’t spot a good footballer if he fell over one
Given more support to Ratten and Bolton rather than sack them
Had a more open ended selection process to get on the board
Not been so inbred at admin level
Played more finals and finish the top 4 at least a couple of times in eighteen years in a time of equalisation
Picked up Paul Chapman rather than Michael Mansfield not to mention all the other stupid @#$%&! trades
Not cheat on the salary cap and get caught four @#$%&! times
Not recruit repeatedly spud after spud from other clubs(welcome Newnes)
Basically embraced the new age rather than be stuck in the past for the last 30 years

Ah.... sorry
“Should have”

This is the List Management thread right?

Who would be responsible for our very thin mid field group.

Unless you've changed your MO and stopped trying to sit that faulty needle on that faulty record after 347 attempts, can I take a guess please...

But yes, I agree our midfield is thin

Yes you’re right, apparently Cripps lost 4 kilos over the summer, so our midfield is much thinner.

Well that’s disappointing if true.

He had a highlight in the VFL of a running goal.
After seeing that I thought, forward, we need one or 2 with Charlie and Harry missing, and TDK may not be quite ripe.

Bottom six list spots on perceived potential, shown too little, or position overload :
Cottrell, Owies, O'Dywer, Poulson, Goddard, Lang.

I'm happy with the choice.

Can mark, can kick, can goal

Cottrell and Owies showed something last year and throughout the preseason.

One is a rookie the other a Cat B.

I'm guessing they would have gone for a mid had we had a fit forward setup.

Me too.

I think the VFL team can do with a tall forward with our current injuries: Harry and Charlie.
Ben Silvagni and DeKoning will have to take key posts against some well drilled Key backmen in the VFL.

Macreadie may not come up for a defensive post. I think VFL team has plenty of cover in defense

Into the 5th year of the rebuild, I'm not sure we have enough players with the capacity to take us into the top 4 in the next few yrs.

There's loads of talent but there's also ongoing injuries and mental lapses from too many.

Hope I'm wrong.

Agree. Not all our high draft picks are going to make it.
The ones that will need a couple more years of muscle.

Definetely need to find replacements for:

Ed ( Stocker, but he's only 20yo this year)
Murphy (Kemp, but he's only 19yo this year)
Simmo (replaced with a quicker backman to close down elite small goal kickers) ... maybe Philp

They will take time and if Dow Obrien Setterfield and Cuningham dont step up then they need to be replaced by mature ready made stars, (they were meant to be).

Need a couple strong bodied mids...a bit difficult to get one let alone 2 or 3.

It’s very early in the season, but at this stage I’m inclined to agree with you.

SPS & Walsh are our only young midfielders who look like becoming 200 game players. I think we all hoped Dow, Fisher & Setterfield would go up a level this season, but so far it’s not happening. They still might, but I’m becoming increasingly less bullish about them.

I think Fisher is progressing OK however agree that both Dow and Setterfield have been disappointing so far.
Hopefully Stocker, LOB or Philp can show something.

I think it’s a bit early to expect much from Philp & Stocker, but I agree LOB is in the same boat as Dow, Fisher & Setterfield - time to start having an impact. Same with Cunningham & Kennedy - although I suspect if those two make it, it will be as forwards.

SOS has one failing - and it's a substantial failing.

He couldn't land a big-bodied established mid to help Crippa.

Kennedy is a bust
Missed on Shiel
Missed on Coniglio

SOS was fine with the spine but missed on the midfield
