Hard to see Lobbe, Garlett and Lang getting contract extentions & hard to see anyone else chopped. Although few players will be on notice for next season.

Three players through trades and three players through the draft would do it I reckon.

I agree about Lobbe & Garlett - but I think Lang will be with us next year (he is contracted for another year anyway, I think?). I don’t think Kerr & Schumacher are contracted for next year at this stage, so either or both of them could be in trouble. If it’s a choice between the two, I reckon Kerr will be the one to go (particularly if Casboult is staying).

Finbar, Macreadie & Polson are extremely fortunate to be contracted for next, IMO.

From the rookie list, LeBois is almost certainly gone; Gibbons probably gets promoted to the primary list; and Goddard, DeLuca, Cottrell & Owies I would keep on the rookie list.

I'd rather Thomas get a rookie spot than Deluca. He's a trier but he doesn't have enough AFL qualities

Me too, but that’s not going to happen.

Yep.

For mine Deluca is in the too small body group with Fisher (keeper, if he can get back to 2018 form) and OBrien (I expect OBrien to change body shape by 2021-2 keeper).

Thomas gives us Thomas. Play him if he's in top form or leads and develops in the reserves.

Retired

1.Pickett
2. Fasolo
3. Thomas (captain & development coach)

Delist

4. Lobbe
5. Garlett
6. Lang

Rookie

1. Gibbons (rerookie)
LeBois drop
2. Cottrell rookie (takes LeBois' spot)
3. Goddard rookie or vice captain of our VFL stand alone team
4. Thomas rookie (takes Buggs spot)
5. DeLuca (not fussed)

Trade Possible for:

7. Casboult for pick (I want to keep him. Have him ahead of Kreuzer)

9. Kerr for pick (not fussed)

I truly don’t understand the ‘trade Fisher’ push. Really is quite disturbing.

Agree... No chance..

His form has dropped off this year, but who knows if that's due to form, injury or role.
Didn't see him dropped did we?
Players don't lose talent... despite form going up and down.
His smarts /decision making is generally elite...his skills not far behind
He's a keeper

Go Blues

This is a critical off-season and pre-season for us if we really want to start motoring up the ladder.

Starts with trades and free agency. We need a dangerous small forward and another established quality mid. We’ve all heard the names now we just need to cross our fingers we get a couple over the line. Over to SOS.

Then, probably more importantly, we’ve got to nail the pre-season, especially our youngsters. We need consistent performances from some of our younger mids (Dow, Stocker, Fisher, Cunners and O’Brien). I’m not expecting miracles from them but they need to improve their endurance and other specific deficiencies. Dow needs to work of field kicking, O’Brien on strength and competitiveness and Cunners on managing his body so he can play 15-20 games next year. If a couple of these guys really step up then we might be able to weather missing Cogs or a decline in some of our older mids (hope neither of these things happen). Harry needs to get his goal kicking sorted. Find a consistent routine that works. Otherwise he’ll be limited to a playing up the ground. Over to AR and the coaching staff

Cunners , Williamson, Macreadie and Doc hopefully get to play art least 10 games otherwise end 2020 for some it may be the end of the road.
Not sure what to do with Kerr, Schumacher & Polson too so many players on our list have not produced much or contributed to the team.
We can’t carry so many at infinitum.

Lang will. Not much point sending him off for surgery and then delisting him.

Thomas isn't going to be here.
Get used to it.
DeLuca was one of the few that stood up against Geelong.

Good under age player.
Gets caught too often at this level and has to dish off before he's ready.
Attacks the footy from the wrong side of the contest too often for a one-sided player.
He didn't get dropped because we haven't got the depth yet. If we recruit a couple of mids, he will play in the twos most of the year.

Agree. He would have absolutely zero currency at the trade table.

Gee we're going to have a lot of good players in the 21-23 age range next year.

Weird to see Crippa near the upper end of the age scale. Didn't realise Lang was younger than him, thought he was 25 or 26.

Get some A grade talent born between 94-96 and we're on our way.
