we need to start adding youngster to list or our future recruits should be under 25 ,worried that we have a solid group of 27 yrs old gives us 4 good years need to keep adding to our younger age group and keep list building. Look at tigers lost higgins and this supporter on sen mentioned about 3 players that can replace him .

Agree Bondi. Williams will be a fantastic addition to our midfield. He is exactly what we need to complement Cripps, Setters, Kennedy. Don't worry about that. It's now up to Barker to f@#king set up and rotate them correctly.

...and Walsh, who should start in the middle every week, coz we got him for that role, he does aplomb, and, who starred in the middle in the 2nd half of the season....plenty of Brownlow votes says it all.

Back to your point, the players by-pass Barker when they leave his stoppages meeting and work it out themselves out on the field.

Kennedy...interesting.

He had 4th most attendances in the centre bounce this year, but was up for trade.

Yep, he's part of the squad. Can't see Kennedy playing many games in 2021 TBH...unless its wet.

He is versatile.

This is pretty good from the ABC - nice interesting stats of trade period that just passed.

I have no idea what any of that means, but it shows us beating everyone, so I like it

Main list currently on the maximum of 38 (including Gibbons) with Kennedy, Macreadie, Polson & Newnes out of contract.

Five of the maximum six rookies on the list, with Honey & Cottrell locked in. Phillips, Owies & Moore are out of contract.

The scouting reports suggest it's a good draft for defenders. Nevertheless, I think we'll need to keep both Macreadie & Moore around.

Newnes played every game in his first season and had a pretty good year. As did Kennedy, but he might opt to take his chances elsewhere if backup full forward is his only way into the side. Perhaps his fate was sealed when he hitched his wagon to Izzy Folau?

Kennedy, Polson, Phillips & Owies to be delisted. Macreadie & Moore retained on the rookie list.

Leaves room for three additions to the main list & up to two rookies.

How long do you expect Macreadie to last as a DFA prior to our turn to rookie him?

I reckon Cats will take him in the draft if he's there for the taking.

North should.

I think Betts sould be on the rookie list. No one will take him off us.

Newnes isn't out of contract. He had a 2 year offer with Saints and took our 2 year offer.

Can't see Kennedy being delisted.... Or Moore retained...

My understanding is we don't have to take 3 picks in the draft this year: only one.

We have upgraded Gibbons, so there's our one compulsory selection in the draft.

To take anymore, Austin has to see opportunity with the two picks being an improvement on the likes of Polson, Kennedy and Moore.

Moore is supplentary...and therefore a rookie???? If so, he's a different category to Kennedy and Polson

The AFL hasn't explained exactly how it will work, but we also have to build a VFL list in 2021.

Good news re Newnes.

We're the only club that would offer Macreadie a lifeline, though the new ressies comp might be enticing for him. New environment, new mentors... a fresh set of eyes and ears. Had we retained a top pick, somewhere under 25, I would've just delisted him & taken my chances in the draft.

In any case, the depth chart at KPD is pretty shallow.

Weitering, Jones.... Casboult out of position..... Marchbank & Plowman undersized........... Macreadie, Moore.

The wrist slashing here regarding giving up Saad for pick 8 would make you think we gave up pick 8 alone which is clearly not the case.

Given our list size, if we trade 38 and 48 for a late 20s pick, we’ve effectively traded 8 for Saad and late 20s with Fogarty as change. And we’ve landed the main targets we wanted and fulfilled our list obligations in the draft.

Stop looking at the Saad trade in isolation and only looking at the headline pick 8. Think objectively, not just because it was Essendon*/Dodo we were dealing with.

The clown couldn’t get the Dunkley deal done, has left him hanging and potentially his brother too.

Surely they weren’t just picking his brother to get Josh there? They’ll still list him even though they didn’t get the deal done with the Dogs. Otherwise it would mean they were just using him as bait to get Josh and they’d never treat someone like that, would they?

Right on babee.
That's a good way of viewing it.
Austin alluded to pick upgrade and the fact pick 78 will become pick under 50, hence points.

Yep, exactly as you say, there's more to it than looking at it in solation.
IT being pick 8.

Its done. There's 2 viewpoints. There always will be.
We are the winners for it, either way.

Go Blues

We will have no 36yo or 33yo next year.

Murphy will be 34yo and Betts 35yo next year.
