I was really keen on Witherden.

Can't believe the Eagirls got him for a 3rd rounder, and Lions pay some of his salary.
Obviously keen to get him off the list. Cap bursting at the seams at Brisbane????

Clubs will be permitted to select just one player in December’s National Draft, down from three.

The rule change was communicated to clubs on Thursday, foxfooty.com.au understands.

It relates to expected list cuts, which are due to be made official in the coming days.

Clubs will also be allowed to take in more draft picks than they have list spots as well this year.

In previous years, AFL clubs were capped on the amount of selections they could take into the draft, based on available list spots.

I never really get angry at the blokes there day in day out managing the list. But if we don't keep a slot open for mid season draft it's gross negligence

Yep, given the amount of juniors with no exposed form due to COVID, someone good will get missed in this draft. I assume they'll be eligible to be picked up during the mid season draft?

I think clubs who had list space could nominate a player after either Round 4,8 or 12. If two clubs nominate the same player the lower ranked team gets them.

Makey Uppey Wins again!

The AFL is considering whether it needs to open a second window – possibly only for 24 hours – to trade players this year as it is poised to announce cuts to list sizes and the salary cap for next season.

The AFL is mindful that the entire free agency and trade period passed without clubs having a definitive idea of how many players they could have on their list next year, nor how much they could pay the players.

This competition is an absolute farce.

Got to get Dunkley to the cheats, or at least talk about it for a few more weeks.

Got to get those likes and clicks and impressions. Bonuses aren't giong to pay themselves.

They have had all year to have this extremely sensitive and important event for all clubs compromised by an AFL Commission who is asleep at the wheel.

The Effendon* drug cheats seem to be in bed the with AFL Commission.
They missed on Dunkley and the AFL Commission has to find a way to accomodate the cheats.

What a farce.

We've been hearing for a few years now we need support for Cripps in the midfield.

The main reason is because not only had Cripps become our main extractor, he also wanted to be the line breaker and tried to do everything on his own and in the process getting beaten up, usually 2 against 1, with no umpire support.

This year Setterfield and Walsh stood up, and the Duracell Bunny, Ed, just keeps on going.

We got Williams in.

For those who think he's a one hit wonder in the midfield, I say with 100% certainty they haven't watched or focussed on Williams in 2020. He has played HB and midfield and wing this year. IMO he's been their most important player with Cogs and Kelly being average this year. Green is their finisher. Green doesn't run and carry the ball and get it forward.

If you watched Williams you will notice he was the go to man at GWS, a bit like Kelly. The difference between Williams and Kelly is that Williams can play inside and outside roles because he's tough, relentless, and has breakaway speed. We needed Williams more than Kelly and Couch imo. I bet Williams will be better than Merrett this year, and possibly Oliver if he stays in the midfield.

With Williams on board, Cripps can focus on what he's damn good at, getting the hard ball, attracting 2 defenders and getting the ball out to Walsh, Williams or Setterfield. Setterfield is a big lad at almost 6 foot 4 and does get his hands free in a tackle and stands up. He is another extractor, or links with Cripps to get it to the break away speed of Williams or smarts and elusiveness of Walsh.

We have plugged a huge whole in our midfield; its a great mix.

Then there's classy players who can go through there too in Martin, Fogarty, Fisher and I expect one of Dow and Cuningham to step up. I haven't even mentioned the steadfast Ed Curnow, and maybe Murphy steps up knowing its his last year (or, he work harder for another contract). There's 10 to mix it up through the middle. Bettsy and SPS can go through there too.

Next year maybe we add an Oliver or a Merrett. Probably Oliver, but before that, we have already changed the dynamics of our midfield group, with the addition of Williams, and Cripps having fixed up his shoulder will be a much better player in 2021 with Finals fixed in his sights.

List is looking fantastic even with the injury to Charlie Curnow. He will join the boys most likely in the 2nd half of the season if not earlier.

Bring it on!!!!

We are set!

Agree Bondi. Williams will be a fantastic addition to our midfield. He is exactly what we need to complement Cripps, Setters, Kennedy. Don't worry about that. It's now up to Barker to f@#king set up and rotate them correctly.

Agree.

How many more do we need to delist? If it’s only one, then surely it’s Polson.

I see the end for Polson, Philips and Owies (unfortunately).

Moore may get a (baffling) reprieve given Curnow's continued absence.

How would you feel if you were a player traded in that last frantic 10 minutes, only to find they're adding another day to it

If administrators from professional sporting organisations in America or Europe cared to deep dive into how our national sport is run, they would either laugh, shake their heads, or both.

...and Walsh, who should start in the middle every week, coz we got him for that role, he does aplomb, and, who starred in the middle in the 2nd half of the season....plenty of Brownlow votes says it all.

Back to your point, the players by-pass Barker when they leave his stoppages meeting and work it out themselves out on the field.

Kennedy...interesting.

He had 4th most attendances in the centre bounce this year, but was up for trade.

Yep, he's part of the squad. Can't see Kennedy playing many games in 2021 TBH...unless its wet.

He is versatile.
