Who said we won't play finals. Didn't know our future was simply decided by just today's effort. If every side was judged on one effort no-one would make the finals.

6-5 in the last 11 matches with an awful draw in that time is a good effort. We're not top 4 level yet, as we found against the Cats, Tigers and Eagles, but we knew that and something we have to build further towards. Just another step along the journey.

Everything went against us that game. Wouldn't read too much into it - good lessons for Teague and the playing group.

Need lots of work to be more aggressive moving the ball forward than yesterdays efforts. We desperately missed Gibbons and desperately need Papley, Martin and Coniglio.

That’s more than half of his games in charge. Two we went on to win and another two we probably should have, but it’s a concerning trend.

A disappointing way to finish off an otherwise extremely enjoyable 11 weeks. Another round 23 belting. It doesn’t surprise me too much considering last week felt like our GF and they had everything to play for today. I just hope we don’t get scheduled down there again next year. Copped it the last two years but we’re now bringing crowds to justify this being back at Marvel. Over to Andy Russell now

Good aye Jim Even with the snagging of some restricted free agents a key element next year will be the development of the youngsters particularly with what we have at the draft which is not a lot because of the list strategy during last years trade period Probably the most important is TDK We desperately need a quality big man Too many average players Interesting times ahead

The obe quarter we had with the breeze we dominated them just didn't convert. We were okay In Patches. We had a few player who were virtually unsighted though. Our bottom 6 were largely uncompetitive. SPS, Dow, Fisher, McGovern, Casbolt, etc But the seniors were fantastic, Cripps, Murphy, Curnow and Walsh - God he's incredible. A disappointing way to end an interesting season for Carlton. This time last year & the season before, we had run out of legs, being thrashed by 8-10 goals a week in most games after the bye. You compare the last two months & see the obvious team improvement. This was all we asked for at the beginning of the year. We also learnt about Walsh, Cunningham, Newman, Setterfield, Gibbons etc and saw our third and fourth year players start to lock into their positions. I'm deleting yesterday's match from the landscape and looking forward to next year. Go Baggers!!

Disappointed with yesterday, but not really surprised. Reality check would be my take. Probably better now than round 1 next year. We won't spend the pre season with an overinflated view of where we stand. We're on the way to being a good side,I stress on the way. Because we're not there yet. Lots of hard work to be done over summer by all facets of the club.

Move straight on from that ground. The commentators always go on about how opposition teams kick it OOTF all the time when playing at that place, I reckon that should tell the league that it doesnt meet the standard size requirements for AFL. I hope we are never forced to play there again. Hell hole. I hate Geelong. Most advantaged club in the league and they still often complain. And they engaged Dank and Weap during their dominant years under Bomber Thompson.

Yep but we have to address a number of issues going forward. We continually get told the game is 90% above the shoulders and although the percentages are debatable, momentum and confidence are genuine match winners. I love Paddy Dow but his misses early and from other culprits were absolutely critical. We had the chance to get ourselves into the game and we continually shot ourselves in the foot. Paddy has to improve his kicking/composure or he needs to get bigger and tougher around the contest and become an inside ball winner or there won't be a role for him in the game. Harry needs a big off season as well. It's pointless having a key forward who can take strong grabs but can't convert. 6.13 to 14.6 at 3/4 time told the story. Yes Geelong were more composed and take far greater advantage of their stoppages but we dominated the game for reasonable lengths of time and kicked like shit. We saw how conversion can kill you off or help you win games against the Bulldogs. They couldn't hit the site of a barn and as a result, we had easily our biggest win of the season. Not that we dominated the game but we took our chances and gained confidence from it. The midfield is the other issue which I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. The reliance on 4 players not only takes a toll on them but it prevents other players from developing. When Ed went down, we bought Kennedy into the rotation. When did he last play reasonable midfield minutes with Cripps and Murphy? Yes it will win more games playing the old heads but the youngsters will struggle to come on. If Fish and Dow aren't playing midfield in the AFL, play them there in the VFL so they can hone their craft and gain experience and confidence. The apparent lack of ability to recruit a specialist small forward is doing my head in. Either SOS doesn't believe in the role or he can't identify one. Whichever it is or whoever is struggling to get one on our list, push them aside and give someone else an opportunity to identify one. Just dumping midfielders there and expecting to "become" a small forward isn't working. Especially when those same midfielders are not actually getting any time in the midfield to develop their midfield skills.
