Another in a long-line of final round shitshows.

Andrew Russell, they're all yours.

Horrible way to finish.

Great last 10 weeks though.

I’m very much glass over half full.

Weiters smashed the flog Hawkins

Assuming Ed is ok, best we can say is no long term serious injuries.

Incredibly disappointing way to end the season. For mine, we were soft and largely uncompetitive. Too much to too few.

Only smacking in 11 weeks. 6-5 with an awful 2nd half draw was a great effort.

So sick of this mob treating us with contempt...

Bring on 2020... lot's to work on

Pros:

Midfield regained control for the middle 2 quarters after being slaughtered early, until Ed went off injured.
Weitering, Ed and Walsh were outstanding.
Murphy and Cripps good.
Marchbank had a good 2nd half.

Cons:

Awful effort defensively. Very disappointing way to finish the year. They scored effortlessly from forward clearances, and their medium forwards ran around taking marks unattended.
Tackling was very poor.
Newman, Daisy and SPS were awful. A couple of absolutely feeble efforts from Newman in marking contests in the 2nd quarter particularly stand out.
Inaccuracy.
The usual home crowd umpiring nonsense. :hitcomputer: How many ridiculous 'deliberate out-of-bounds' were there against our players?
The inevitable 'score review' that went against us again. :banghead:
Dow, Fisher, and a number of others.
Kreuzer's ineptitude at centre bounces again cost us badly.

I don't think he is coming anyway, but I doubt Coniglio would want to come to a club that is bottom four and not likely to make finals over the next few years

That performance today confirmed we have a long way to go

I love Deluca's intensity, but gee his skill level and decision making are very, very poor.

Wasn’t great.

Disappointing people have forgotten 10 weeks of football. I guess your only good as your last game.

Walsh great.
Weitering also.

SPS played very defensively and barely touched it.

Fisher with lots to think about over summer.

Cripps, Murphy and Ed good.

Forwardline didn’t know how to play the ground shape and couldn’t lock it in a lot all in the first half.

I hope we never play them there again.

Who said we won't play finals. Didn't know our future was simply decided by just today's effort. If every side was judged on one effort no-one would make the finals.

6-5 in the last 11 matches with an awful draw in that time is a good effort. We're not top 4 level yet, as we found against the Cats, Tigers and Eagles, but we knew that and something we have to build further towards. Just another step along the journey.

Yep. Fisher, Dow, Walsh, LOB and plenty of others with frames to fill out.

Awful at the stoppages today. Started at the opening bounce with Dangerfield loose goal side, and the rot set in from there.

Agree very slow decision making, stopped our play a couple of times when he needed to GO.

Old story of the last 6 in the team just not up to it.

Therefore too much to too few.

Can't wait to see the Geelong flogs get bundled out of the finals. Such pretenders and will be shown up by the good sides. Will especially take delight in seeing the mercenary Hendo come up short ! Sold out the Blues hunting flags after we resurrected his career.

Would have been nice to be kicking with the breeze in the 2nd...…
Curnow going off in the 3rd hurt us as well.
Nobody would have beaten the Cats at home today.

We had almost the same inside fifties as they did and got beaten by 70 points.
There's your issue right there.
It's how you go in. Firstly. Long bombs (in the wet tonight and against the wind to boot) to a line of opposition defenders isn't going to win you a lot of games. Our forward fifty entries are almost always either shallow from long kicks from downfield or long bombs from a mark or free whereby we have allowed the defence to set up.
Secondly, we have a FF who looks lazy and who is one of the worst set shots for goal in the team. He takes most of his marks at half back. Whoopy do.

In other words, our system for getting it inside fifty is a raffle and then when we do we don't capitalise.

I've been saying for years that Matthew Kreuzer is not a genuine ruckman. He is a 200cm inside mid. As a priority we need a tap ruckman. He was towelled up today by someone who has played most of the year in the VFL. Geelong have preferred to go without a ruckman rather than play him but when I turned off, they were killing us at stoppages.

The second half of the year has been massive but as someone posted during the week, we played our GF last week.

I sincerely hope we can get some of those big names we have been linked to and that Teague has a better system than the one we are currently employing. Even playing poor-system footy we won 7 and could have easily won about 4 more. That would have had us on the cusp of the eight. Bring on next season.
