I thought all the signs were there for heartbreak today. Maybe I need to start having more confidence in this group?

I’m please to see us overcome bad forward entries, horrible umpiring and the absence of Charlie, Jones, Weitering & Marchbank.

Pros:

Gutsy win with a depleted team, and despite our relative forward line inefficiency.
Particularly pleasing to get late goals from Dow, Deluca and Harry.
Casboult, Simmo, Daisy, Ed and Murph.
Kreuzer's last quarter.
Harry was good, but his kicking from a mark is terrible at the moment. But that last goal and the roar was magic. :thanks:
Samo, Walsh and SOJ were good again.

Cons:

Inaccuracy.
Centre clearances.
Opposition scored too easily from their entries. Especially in the first half.
Free kicks. Again. :banghead:

Great effort considering the players we had missing.
Still can't believe we're letting Daisy go.
I hope Coniglio was watching.

Yeah, me too. I didn't really expect to win until there was 30 seconds to go. Lots of emotional nourishment today, after a very encouraging last 2 months.

Did it for Crippa (who apparently was in hospital all morning with an ear infection and still dominated)
Did it for Daisy (who's winding back the clock and going out swinging with a blinder)
Did it for Teaguey (the train just keeps on rollin')
Did it for the members (who are signing up in record numbers, turning out in droves and cheering louder than they've ever been)

Did it in spite of the bald headed flogs (if my eyes didn't deceive me it was that same loudmouth 23 that reamed us last week)
Did it in spite of Gil (keep your filthy snout out of our trough)
Did it in spite of St Kilda (so good to finally do these pricks)

Bloody beautiful work. GO BLUES!

Are we that strong a club now that we can afford to let Daisy go ?

Amazing game from Levi.

This is the best footy Daisy has played since he came to us so I can’t understand the decision.

So happy for everybody at the club.

I started to ‘believe’ with about 4 mins to go. Prior to that, I was reasonably sure an honourable loss was happening.

Thought we’d get smashed, especially with the late change.

Couldn’t be happier to be proved wrong.

Watching on tv and seeing the crowd size and noise, really felt like the good old days.

This is it people. The heavy lifting has been done. The darkest of days endured. The sleeping giant is rising. Roll on 2020 and the Teague Train.

I'm still in the "Lang is rubbish" camp but that triple tackle effort was very very good.

Levi was a colossus all game.

Kreuzer's last quarter was incredible. Daisy and Simmo fantastic work out of a very depleted back line.

We really are masters of putting together some amazing build up play, then shooting ourselves in the foot.

I really hope we can get someone in to work on Harry's kicking for goal. If he can start shooting straight he could be a Coleman winner one day.

Some great signs from McGovern. Would have given him a vote today bar his totally inexplicable decision to try take a speckie on the line when the ball was sailing through.

And the umpires .... what the actual?

Credit to the selectors for having the balls to replace a tall with a small. Is that an indicator we’re going that way in the future under Teague?

Rather than pick so-so Goddard or Macreadie to replace Weitering we backed ourselves with the extra runner. I reckon it worked.

That was a great effort. I also thought his ball use was good today.

Just got back from a local bar where the owner allowed me to log in to his big screen.
A few curious onlookers watched it with me.

Cons:
It was one of the most frustrating games I have watched for a while.
We dominated on the field but not on the scoreboard. That score flattered StK and shows how bad we are at delivering the footy into the F50.
I always thought we should win it but feared we were going to give it away to them through sloppy skills.
If Harry wants to play FF he is going to have to do something about his set shot routine. 0-3 from set shots 35 out is piss weak from a FF. I don't care is ge takes 10 contested marks on the half back line and the wing and neither does the opposition coach.
I didn't realise Fisher was playing until just after half time.
Kreuzer was dominant in the last quarter but cost us goals from stoppages with his sloppy ruck work during the game.
Kennedy has so much upside but he needs to get more touches. Dow ditto.

Pros:
Pretty well everything else.
We fought it out even though we were playing ordinary footy most of the night.
The pressure on the ball carrier was almost manic. Tackles are sticking. We seem to be winning a lot of contested ball.
Some individuals stood out for mine:
Levi
Jack
Thomas
Simmo (apart from a terrible turnover almost at the end)
SPS early
Newman and Plow in the absence of the tall backs.
Walsh and Cripps in patches.

If we get Weitering back next week and can somehow find a way to get Fisher involved in the game, if Cripps has a blinder with Walsh and Ed and Mitch improves a bit, if Harry can capitalise on the possessions he gets within range, we are a show, even at the cattery. I certainly hope we let them know they have been in a game of footy.

A good win overall. Bring on next week.
