Not a fan.
I'm a great believer in mentors and for those bagging the idea of having one, listen to people like David Parkin. He's a big believer in it. In fact, most of the coaching accreditations require it and most senior coaches have one.
Unfortunately Worsfold wouldn't be my choice. He'll assist with personal development but strategically he's been poor for a long time. Too rigid and inflexible in his approach. That's why he's lost his last 2 coaching gigs. I'd rather a hard arse like Lyon. Someone who will challenge the status quo.

Anyway, it's a change of structure which is good but it's a missed opportunity IMHO.

totally agree, the issue is not the idea, its the choice.

I wouldn't have minded Lyon either but I get the feeling he still wants a senior coaching job. I reckon he'll end up at GWS

My first reaction too.
Final few years were very underwhelming.
Like the idea ... just not with someone seemingly buried in the past.

Worsfold is a Parkin student as is Lyon and Ratten.

Teague is a Worsfold student when he was assistant at WCE.

Teague was coaching the WCE backline from 2011 to 2013 under Worsfold.

Worsfold is an AFL legend whether one likes it or not.

Sounds like we’re going to have a temporary Ian Stewart scenario shortly.

I'd say he's good as gone, unless miracles happen.

Might be a legend, but so were Pagan and Malthouse, his time has past (like Pagans and Malthouse) as indicated by his underwhelming time at Essendon*.

A former board member (from Greg Swann days) told me as recently as January that Teague had "no excuses" and needed to deliver something by mid-year or would be moved on come years end.

So is Ron Barrassi. It doesn't mean one believes he can assist our current coach tactically.

For me its not a matter of who. It's why ? quarter way through the season all of a sudden we need a mentor for Teague.Third season, quarter way through and its dawned on us.Making it up on the run.If he needs a mentor it should have been day one.........looney tunes for mine.

Barassi is too old - Worsfold isn't.
