I wonder what the three course meal will say...

David Teague spoke at the North Fitzroy Arms today.

As far as trades go -

Eddie Betts is almost certain to be at the Blues next year. Eddie wanted two years but Carlton offered one year, with the covet if he performs to his standards in 2020, they'll be another year contract on offer. David spoke of the enthusiasm that Eddie can add to the group, saying if he plays with a smile on his face, he'll pull the rest of the playing group with him.

As far as Jack Martin and Tom Papley, David said they were offered more money by other clubs, but both want to play for Carlton. David seemed proud of this & said he wanted players who wanted to play for our blues & have our club as a club that is the choice of destination.

On the ruck front - Andrew Phillips was offered a year but is looking for a two year contract elsewhere. Carlton rate Tom De Koning but he is still developing. Without alluding to names David said we are looking at a couple of big men. David said he liked the way Levi Causbolt played his football in 2019 & if he continues in 2020 there will be a space in our team for him, albeit on aone year contract.

As far as the 2019 draft, the club has put in a lot of field work, but no discussion has been put in to targeting players.

2020 Game Plan.
David made the comment that as an assistant coach he started off as a backs coach, but since being a forward coach he looks on football differently. He said we want to be an attacking team that kicks goals. He alluded to the potential of our forward line - of three talls in C. Curnow, McGovern and McKay. Can't say I share his level of enthusiasm to the skill of these three talls. As far as Charlie's injury playing basketball, David said Charlie had done nothing wrong and on a medical perspective he said it was better the injury happened now and not in January.

As far as the demographic of the playing group goes, he said it wasn't up to just the senior players to push the group to their potential but to our players of three to four years experience to stand up.

Thanks 79. As always a pleasure reading your input and nice to hear David’s thoughts on our 3 pronged KP forward line!

Cheers.
Sounds like the club will not be offering Casboult the 2 year contract he wants and are prepared to let Phillips go.
I hope they have a plan for a back up ruckman. Hopefully these big blokes we are looking at come into fruition.

Excellent work and greatly appreciated.
The ruck situation lokks like Phillips will go but the flexibility of Caz will stay... Interesting..
I think in a good team Phillips tap work would be required...
Whereas we require Kruz around the ground...
We'll see I guess...

Go Blues
