You won't get any help from the deplorable commentators. No GC frees were commented on. Seemingly every Carlton free was debated and disputed. Dwayne always barracks against Carlton. And don't know if it's some strange kind of reverse psychology, but for someone who's begging for a job, Roosy spends a lot of time criticising anything that goes Carlton's way. :banghead:

I'll take a 4 goal win any day.
We should've won by more.
Dropped the intensity in the 3rd and allowed the umpires to influence the score.

This game we called the Kalamata Kup.
Beautiful beaches...maybe best in Greece me thinks.
Gorgeous day to celebrate with a good wine on the beach.
@#$%&! it's hot, and so is Carlton when they turn it on.

I believe Commentators and umpires tried to cover the GCS weaknesses.
Bring on the Crows for the Stocker Cup.

Geez I wish we could nab Grundy this off season.
I'm sure he would love to be tapping it to the advantage of Cripps Walsh Fisher and Coniglio.

Go Blues.

I had the pleasure of watching live last week so envy most of you guys and still miss Melbourne after 31 years.

Dont bother watching the replay cause I can tell you I had no idea either. Bunch of bald headed flogs the lot of them, even the ones with hair.

Glad we got the win. The umpiring was worse than usual and it's always bad, one set of rules for us and another for the opposition. With some fair umpiring and better execution the game would have been a blowout. Judd should be bitching about the umpiring on TV instead of talking about training wheels.

Lucky we were playing GC. Two of the umps were part of the travesty that was our game against Collingfree.

Some great individual efforts - Jones, Ed, Walsh...

The team looked tired though. I hope they'll have a fresh go at the Crows next week. Not sure this match is a great indication of where we're at.

Wife wasnt home so was free to be madman yelling at the TV - was quiet despite the umpiring - only made noise when we did something special like Daisy's handball - amazing how much leading keeps me sane.

Early in the third is expected us to crack the ton by the end of the qtr and put them to the sword. It will take time to get used to winning - I reckon they still have a lot more wins before the PTSD of the years of punishment is put behind us.

Great to see Murphy endorse Teague in the post match interview.

Wasn’t one of those expecting us to pummel the Suns today. Don’t think we’ve got enough of that killer instinct just yet to smash sides into the dirt. This was evident when we got 7 goals in front and then switched off and started stuffing around.
A win ya a win though. Will take it every day if the week after the first half iof the season we ve had.
How can we explain that putrid umpiring though ? Umps obviously under instruction from the AFL to go easy on Gold Coast this week. Can’t have them being smashed every week seeing as millions of (wasted) dollars have been pumped into them.
Reckon commentators also given a nudge by the AFL to not be too harsh on, and talk up Gold Coast as much as they can.

If Charlie is ready to return, I'd piss Harry off to the 2's. Levi is far more valuable at the moment.

I don’t see Harry at the club in 2 years time, it’s a feeling I’ve had for awhile.

Call me crazy ....

Now that my heart rate has restored to normal ... I think today and last week were mature wins. We did what we needed to. We have also had injuries mid game the last few weeks (it feels like as common as running through the banner these days) and a few interstate trips. This was GCs grandfinal and they threw everything at us and we never realllllly looked like losing.

I’m happy with a win. I wanted a thrashing but guess that will come with time. GC have injuries (and we don’t?!!) Agree the umpiring was appalling however we also got some terrible decisions our way.

I want us to beat crows next week more than anything. I hope the boys can rest up and bring it hard from the first bounce

Lots of positives in the first 3.5 quarters, but then got ahead of ourselves. Should’ve been a routine 5-8 goal win.

Those umpires were not AFL standard, let alone VFL. The perfect example was Murphy gets done for holding the ball when knocked off his kick, yet literally 20secs earlier up the other end, its called play on when it happens to the GC.

I swear someone died every time GC scored a goal it was that quiet. The GC are a failed experiment and add nothing to this competition. At least Tassie would have more support than players in attendance.

just watched the first qtr, mckay was ok with his chasing, the commentary seemed more intent on showing off their knowledge of the players rather than the game, and boy do they love the suns..... they criticise cripps, but dont show the replay of when he got hurt

the umpiring was shocking, almost like they were directed to be biased.... absolutely terrible

Not much being made of SPS's transition to sweeper at half back - being groomed for Simmo's role?
Noticed a few instances where, when we gained possession with a mark in D50, Samo sprinted to get behind the player with the ball so he could control the switch of play.
While he had a few solid games as a midfielder this may be his position. Has a deadly kick on both sides and can really break lines with it. Will be interesting to see this evolve for remaining games.

Also thought JSOS was vital in some key moments. Very smart footballer that can pinch hit all over.

Love the comment by BV comparing Kennedy to Caddy. Same role, so far so good.

Crippa was limping after 1/4 time, funnily enough that's when we slowed down. Not cherry ripe, hope it improves through the week before Adelaide.

McKay's kicking is worrisome.

32,000 crowd vs the Suns... club is a sleeping giant.

Great day with Tommi, his nephew and my old man at the game too, despite the match being VERY hard to watch after half time.

Kreuzer copped a hiding from Witts. Big unit.

3 priorities IMO:

Experienced ruckman
Small Forward
Gun mid

i second the craziness ...

204 cm key forwards who can run like the wind, take contested marks and kick goals need to be kept...

fwiw, he put on 4 tackles yesterday, so i look forward to what he can do defensively when he fixes his laziness
