I agree, I like Jack as well. But not everyone agrees with us. Things are pretty easy right now, but some reduced form next year along with Ben not coming on will heat up the kitchen pretty quickly. I reckon SOS will be wanting to move on within a couple of years, thinking his job is done. Which is the right thing to do, I'm sure you would agree these very high level positions need to be turned over within ten year periods. We cannot ever have a situation again where a top official at the club hangs around for 15+ years gets stale and ends up doing damage to the club. Just like Elliot for example. I'm sure you agree.

SOS may decide to move on for new challenges or more money, or to work with a mate (Lyon), but I don’t think Jack or Ben would be a factor at this point.

I like my mates, but I wouldn't want to work with them.

... and presumably SOS likes his family, who are settled here, more than his mate who lives on the other side of the country.

(That said, I have no idea if he could perform his role "remotely". Might be possible).

With this scenario he doesn't get to watch nearly every game his 2 sons play in Melbourne and Interstate. Then when Tom matures and is selected FS or other, he'd want to see him develop too.

There should be a SOSOS at Carlton for a few years yet to keep him keen to stay in Melbourne.

Even when he worked for GWS he commuted from Melbourne. Perth is a bit of a stretch me thinks.

So apparently SOS was spotted in Adelaide.
New coach?
New kids?
New players?
Old Carlton players?
New job?
New trade options?
The mind ponders!

Richmond and Geelong have had no tissue getting all the pieces in under the salary cap. Hawks in their prime no issue. What sells it is success. We are going in the right direction for that too.

You have to pay 95% cap stupidly so if anything is currently front loaded to reach that point it’s even more positive in the coming years.

Plenty of flexibility in the cap with the 105% rule as well from what I deduce, get buy in for the players to remain at market or slightly less than market rates for success and it won’t be an issue.

Agree.

Tracking nicely and plenty of front loading going on.

I don't know if people remember the size of the warchest prior to Shiel advance...all that was probably used front loading too because we didnt get Shiel and only pulled in 23yo McGovern. Left a couple mill...I'm sure Crippa saw a lot of that...and still left change for others to sign extended contracts.

You mean our list managers travels outside of Melbourne?

It's almost like there could be other AFL teams outside of Melbourne and he's there discussing players who may be available in the upcoming trade week.

Yeah, nah, I think he's gonna replace Pyke as coach of the Cows.

Eagles V Lions GF.
