There used to be a few more on this site.
It would have been a great day for you and your kids.
There is not much better than seeing your team win like that with passionate Carlton
supporters in close attendance and we have been down for so long.

I have supported Carlton for 50 years and it may surprise a few here but I still want them to win.

My beef with the club is it hasn’t changed with the changes at AFL level and we have paid the price for that and as you get older you do see the world differently and in perspective more clearly.
You hope you do. The body gets older but you get a bit smarter .

No doubt it was a great win and I was happy, but not delirious about it.
Cripps played one the best game I have seen by an individual for a while
He basically dragged us over the line
Walsh is an amazing talent for a 19 year old
Gibbons was the most individual pleasing aspect of the game.He is a really good footballer and says a lot about the importance of recruiting.

However there are still many players who disappointed me yesterday and some are not up to AFL standard. We still recruit too many of them even if they where the navy blue logo.
Some have talent but don’t go in hard enough
Let’s not forget that Simpson our most consistent player over the last 10 years
will probably not be there next year
We really need DeKoning to become that mobile ruckman we desperately need over
the next decade.
Murphy has one year to go on his contract but he has been largely ineffective lately

We must recruit and list manage better.
I believe our last 2 drafts and trades have been poor and despite yesterday’s win I’m not
sold on Mc Govern or Setterfield who we gave up so much for.

The club has stated that it wants to win a flag in 5 years
Great to talk like that and it can happen but we would need to cut half the list again and
recruit better
IMO your bottom 6 players win you the flag on the day
You need a list of 35 players who are of AFL standard to cover for injuries

I want a 17 th flag just like you and everyone else who supports Carlton.
You can’t have that if you have a couple of blokes like Cripps and Walsh getting you
over the line

Anyway a good win yesterday and I hope the guys put in a good effort
when I see them in the flesh over in the West in a couple of weeks

Keogh
Most of us felt relief as the overriding emotion. Far from delirious
Just a good solid happy and relieved for us and the club. Gonna take awhile for trust to come back.
Most of us are also aware of some improvements that need to happen.
It's a shame you can't let that bit go for just a day or two. Oh well. Your brain. Your call.

relief is good......

Couldn’t careless what you blokes think of me

“What it means to me “ is yesterday’s win was a terrific come from behind victory
A temporary respite from the misery

But don’t wall paper the cracks
There is a long way to go

I want a 17 th flag as much as you blokes
But there is much work to do and the club has many important decisions to make over the next six months to get things back on track

All fair points that I largely agree with.

It did take a superhuman effort by Cripps to get us over the line, I’m glad one of these efforts finally got us a win as opposed to an honourable loss.

I think Bolton was a big part of the problem as winning had gone so low down on his list of priorities not realizing everyone was totally getting demoralized in the process.

Our recruiting at the pointy end of the draft over the last 4 years gives us a base to work with, basically everything else we have done (picks outside the top 30 and trading) has been abysmal.

Gibbons we were lucky to get (well unlucky doc went down) and now he’s got the pace of afl and is being played more on ball he looks good.

Newman is a decent pickup, although made some horrendous errors last couple of weeks. Still light years ahead of O’Shea, mullet and Shaw.

If we can show promise for the rest of the year, and win the kind of games we were losing earlier in the year we maybe able to snag a few decent established players from other clubs, who will no longer thing their just meat shields for the younger guys in a joyless development side.

Things that didn’t seem possible a week ago seem possible again, it may just be a one off but I’m expecting at least a hard fought showing against the Dogs next week. Suddenly if we can get belief in this group, as has happened in other teams over the years it can be a tsunami that’s hard to stop

Nice post kk. Glad you had an awesome day at the footy with the kids

I listened to the 3rd qtr comeback on the radio in the car, was driving back from a family event. Listening to us on the radio is very old school, for me, because that's how I followed us growing up outside of Melbourne. Had a great time yelling in the car as I drove up Plenty Road.

Then when I got home for the last qtr, I went new school & put Kayo on

He is Mick, but look at the thread title.

This is not the thread to go into (for the 300th time) our list management etc. There are other places for that topic.

This is a thread for supporters too remember and feel good about the club for a change.

Keogh et al can @#$%&! off to the Misery Guts thread
