Our Merchandise department would have to get bigger polos to be able to fit a keg, and XXXXXXL hats for his massive bonce.

I reckon if things go well enough for the rest of the season that Teague gets the job then the question is why would he need Roos?
New people can harm as well as help and Roos is unknown at Carlton.

Teague's been in coaching for 12 years, including having his own team. Doesn't need someone to oversee.

If he applies for the position, I think it unlikely he is considered seriously. And that won't necessary be his fault - but the likes of the selection committee, who have their own personal bias in making this decision. Roos is right...does this mob take the safe option (a Chris Scott) or be brave? Being brave and thinking outside the square is probably the right choice...but I've got my doubts that they'll do it because of who they are.

Interesting Doc,
BUT,
Teague may throw a spanner into those works...
and if he does, good luck to him.
There's no better position than being the incumbent.... Especially if nothing is expected of you... and you deliver beyond expectations....

Let's see what happens... He'll have quite the audition

Go Blues

There's no right or wrong formula for picking a coach. It's an instinctive thing. They can either recognise a good coach, or they can't. They [REDACTED] up last time because they thought they had to 'follow procedure'.

Go after the best available, pay them heaps, sakc them if they fail.

Our. CEO is right when he said the job is a lot more attractive now than it was in 2015.
Teague proved whst t a decent coach can do with our playing group if he shapes his tactics around the players strengths and natural abilities.
That’ll attract a more rich pool of coaching talent than back then (remember, the choice for the job had gone down to Bolts or Barker)
The Club financially is in a much better place also.
No need to rush, especially if coaches currently employed elsewhere have had their heads turned.

I would love to see Roos at the blues as a mentor/development type role for the kids.
Clarkson don’t think would leave the hawks, doesn’t hurt to ask.
Would Ratten come back after last time?? Maybe..
Ross Lyon is a very smart coach, going nowhere, said the same while coaching the saints.
Voss has learnt a lot and a triple premiership Brownlow medalist would provide respect from the boys.
The other key will be the assistant coaches.
Can we land the likes of Scott Burns, Matty Scarlett, Joel Cory, Saint Nic, Lenny Hayes etc.

For me I would like to see,
Ratten with Roos as a mentor/development role.
Chase assistant coaches like Lenny Hayes, Matty Scarlett and Saint Nic.
Two or three that the players respect and have a idea about footy....

Just a big NO to brad Scott please!!!!

You can’t just choose a couple of big names and throw them together. Their philosophies have to match.

I wouldn’t mind an experienced old head but the position would be best suited as a mentor or leaderships type role to help individuals be the best they can be, seperate from gameday and coaching etc.

I'll change my vote right now to Teague.

Very impressed so far.

I wonder what will happen if we win 5 to 6 on the way home.
They will have to seriously consider Teague then.

I don't think 4 wins will cut it
But 5 to 6 will throw a spanner in the works

this.

im far from giving it to teague, and everyone keeps mentioning him, but its like they have forgotten how he go the job.

roos was the caretaker, coached them off the park, the swans won like their last 6 or 7 games or somethign to that effect, and the supporters demanded he be made coach, despite the job already been given to Wallace. Roos didnt need a mentor ...

One week in football etc.. but come the end of the year, and we are 8 wins 5 loses during teagues reign, why we would even interview other people?

To date, Teague hasnt done a thing wrong, and is ultra impressive with the way he presents himself and has approached everything.

im not saying he is the answer now, but by the end of the season, he could have worked his way into the job himself, with the performance of the players and the performance of himself. he has a 12 week job interview.

I think that's spot on. Give Teague the opportunity and see what he does with it. He may well prove himself to be the man for the job.

SA perspective:

Not sure where the love for Michael Voss is coming from because he doesn't get much from Port fans at all. They don't rate him at all.

Nathan Bassett, if being considered, in his time with Norwood SANFL was an ultra defensive minded coach. Boring as all get out. Sure his teams won 2 grand finals from 3 attempts but it was not an attractive brand of football.

I loved the win but I'm not sold on Teaguey.
The instruction to take the game on and play on quickly was flawed. By all means free up the players mentally but if we want to play quickly all the time, we'll come in for some serious damage.
We were already one of the top 3 teams for playing on and that helped us to the bottom of the ladder.

IMHO, it was the players that adjusted and that adjustment allowed us to get back into the game.
Credit to him that the forward line appeared to function a bit better and our midfield rotations were better managed. The tempo we played after quarter time was better suited to our list composition.
It's important we focus on what is successful for us. I'm not suggesting we go back to Boltons full system control but we also cant just let the players go out there and do their own thing. The overpossessing of the footy early was killing us.
