And another thing,i want players who play for the jumper rather than the coach. The jumper comes first.

I'm sure Teague would agree.

I think a few of us are talking about the coach/es. I think we all understand where the playing list is.

The posts seem to be roughly 50/50 Teague vs Clarkson, but the voting indicates Teague is nearly 4 times a more popular choice with TCers.
Curious.

Teague is good.

Clarkson is better.

Clarkson is still a distinct possibility, he's interested.

Do you have any news on Coniglio by any chance?

I’m sure Clarkson is interested.
I doubt he can win a flag with this Hawthorn team.
But the Blues offer him the opportunity to go past the games greatest coaches.
I just hope he wants it for that reason more so than $$$.

Having said that, I’m happy with Teague too.

I like Teague, but if he is made coach, he needs us better prepared for the opposition game plans early in the game. Richmond won this game in the first quarter because we played into their hands in the 1st. Not the 1st time in the last 8 weeks.

Teague knew clearly what the Tigers were wanting to do and had a plan for it and backed that plan, the problem is the players failed to execute that plan and unlike Bolton who just sticks with the plan all game, he reinforced the plan at 1/4 time to see if the players could execute it and then altered the plan at 1/2 time when it was clear the players couldn't.

A good coach plans for our strengths and back our team, a great coach realises when the plan doesn't work and adjusts accordingly.

Dermie said that he didn't believe that Clarkos game plan would work when he was interviewed and hence didn't vote for clarko. He also said that Clarko scraped the game plan very quickly because he realised that it wouldn't work and came up with a new one (carkos cluster)

Still not settled.

More likely Blues than stay at GWS.

I think a Ratten/Teague combination offers a lot of positivity for the modern day players.

Bring Ratts home.

I’m actually a bit more comfortable with our performance against Richmond than I was last night.
Richmond brought a massive level of pressure even though they were without Cotchin, Rance and Dusty
I think they were at least 40pts better in terms of play. A few weeks ago, I reckon they would have just continued to extend the margin by 3 goals every quarter and we would have lost by 10+ goals. (Same with the week before). But we ugly it out and kept things reasonably even after they built their initial 5 goal lead.

But this week, we need to beat a team loser to our level. If we do, I reckon Teague is >60% chance to be our coach; really only Clarkson could pip him.
It if we lose (and then lose to Geelong), is chances drop below 50% with 4 losses to end the season lending weight to those who believe Teague has just freshened things up and had a bit of a honeymoon.

Just imagining for a second if we secured Clarkson and Coniglio...

It's not entitlement - far from it, it's expecting more than what was dished up under Bolton. I'm not convinced we're getting it.

If a top 4 side plays at their best against a side out of 8 playing at the best then obviously the top 4 side wins. We've been competitive against 2 top 4 sides playing at their peak. We've beaten Brisbane, who haven't lost since, and 2 other sides in the lower regions of the 8 at the time. Other than beating Melbourne, where a shank kick out of defence cost us, we could've done no more.

It was a reasonable effort by the baggers, but, a long way to go yet , add only Martin to yesterday’s Tigers team and results would have been humiliating for Teaugy.
Coach was a little slow to react , he was strategically and tactically better in the 2nd half.
Some strong efforts and good signs plenty to work with.

Are we any danger of getting within a bull's roar of the $9.5m soft cap?

We were smashed at the centre clearances with Cotchin and Martin both out
I would be fast tracking TDKs development
We also lack players that run and carry the ball
Stood out like dogs balls yesterday

Whilst I concede that Bolton’s time was up because he complicated things for the players too much
any new coach with the list we have would struggle against a top 4 team
The performance of the team in the last 2 weeks has done his chances of getting the head job no harm

I’m more interested in what we do during trade week
SOS has less chips to play with because he and his team went too hard with the quick fix last year

Personally I don’t think Clarkson would leave Hawthorn
The guy is such a competitive prick he wants to show the footy world that the Hawks can win another flag with a new list
Problem is he trades away multiple picks for established talent which doesn’t win youflags
Your core group comes from good drafting of kids
Clarkos biggest strength is also his biggest weakness
He simply doesn’t want the Hawks to bottom out
I rather bottom out and rebuild with youth

If you think about it since the draft took full effect 20 years ago only one team has tasted premiership
Glory with 2 completely different lists
West Coast 2006 and 2018 and they finished last or near last in between
That’s why I wouldn’t want Clarkson
Also for a senior coach he has too much of a say on things at the Dawks
Give the job to Teague

If Bolton had
Hodge
Lewis
Mitchell
Franklin
Roughead
Rioli
Birchall
Burgoyne
I reckon he would have coached a flag as well
