The same Wells that drafted Smedts and Lang with first round picks and said he would have taken Troy Mendel with pick 1? Not every opinion he has is correct. Also had a golden run with Ablett, Scarlett and Hawkins given to him on a platter.

Funny how players used to play game after game in the 2s and develop their game there, and we wouldn't care, but now for some dumb reason we're writing off youngsters after 10 senior games.
Seriously, some people need to get their head read.

Wells has done an outstanding job.

Like most posters, they point to the few they get wrong not the many they get right and make their judgment on that. Using that theory you'd never find anyone any good.

The SEN Carlton Show podcast a few days ago suggested a decision has been made to never play Cripps, Setterfield and Kennedy in the same team. This weeks ins and outs might add smoke to the rumour. Would three big body mids in today’s fast paced game style be too unbalanced?

I wouldn’t have a clue if the podcast is right or wrong about the club having such a policy so don’t shoot me for asking the question just out of interest.

It'd be stupid if it was right. The game is congested and low scoring. Those bodies would be ideal.

One thing Jack Dyer used to day "no good being where the ball aint". First pick players who can get the ball then go from there.

Couldn't agree more. Just responding to someone who thinks anyone Wells drafts must be good. There is no recruiter with anything close to a perfect record, it's way too complicated for that. Wells has been one of the best for sure, but also has had some significant help via a very generous father-son rule.

Honesty some of you blokes are clearly so deluded
All recruiters have busts
Wells record is one of the best
Look at our record compared to Geelong’s in the last 15 years

Take your rose coloured glasses off
We could of had Kelly and Constable
Instead SOS recruits a spud in Kennedy for the second time
De Koning who eventually we got with pick 30 may turn out to be
Our next main ruckman but Kennedy
@#$%&! me dead

Nearly as stupid as saying Setterfield is a bust after 7 games :smoking:

Wells also squandered the 'Henderson pick'. From memory we used that selection to get Charlie.

To emphasise form is irrelevant to Bolton, all the ‘ins’ never played a game at any level last week, Kennedy for two weeks, Simpson since Hawthorn. Plowman and Cunners.
Lang plays well at VFL not even an emergency, Kerr kicks 6 also not named in the 22, yet Casboult and Curnow play after shockers.
Position specialist small forward Fasolo, again decent in the VFL, not in, so assume Ed stays in this less than overwhelming positional experiment.
If SPS doesn’t get up, sort of assume Setterfield plays, if so that is rumoured to set of the Bam bam, Crippa, Setters butterfly effect where we get killed on outside run and plastic straws get banned.
Really not sure we are making the best calls at selection each week recently.

Know it is one game at a time but win this one and then it’s the Bombers without Daniher, Stringer and Shiel next week to get some momentum going.

Bloody nervous for this one today though. Could be anything from a resounding Carlton win to a 10 goal thumping.

If the players love or even like this coach, they better come ready to play today... just saying...

It will be a hard scrap today Saints are struggling and want to continue their story too, so they’ll be well prepared for our fire and fury. Let’s hope we have some luck it’s overdue.
