Bolton’s skating on some very thin ice at the moment.
I believe he’s 99% out the door at this stage.
We have a spine to work with minus a ruck.
We’ve lost too many winnable games this year.
We need a big bodied mid to protect Cripps and share the load otherwise it’ll be Judd all over again
This is SOS’s fault not Bolton’s.
Not really.
Charlie Curnow was recruited as a big bodied mid.
Everyone has fallen in lovewith Charlie as a forward and some even suggest we keep him out of the midfield to avoid injury.
It's footy FFS.
Then there's Jack who volved as a good big bodied mid in the VFL and was welcomed back to the seniors to play anywhere but...
Jack was in the top 5 runners during the preseason.
SOS got Kennedy from GWS as a big bodied mid. Bombers and Hawks we in the market for him at the time, and SOS won that.
No one knew he was going to injure his ankle in round 1 last year and carry that injury for the year.
Kennedy has failed to show hy he was worth trading for.
SOS was also after Steele and Hopman. Wish we got Hopman, and still do.
Setterfield was the most recent acquisiton. Its his first year post ACL, let alone having played less than 10 games of AFL, so we shouldn't be expecting too much from him this year
Nah, SOS has delivered, and it is the MC and coaches decisions to play Cripps with Fisher, SPS or Dow by his side, feeding from him.
The MC and coach have choices, but they choose to leave it all to Cripps to feed the ball out.
That's putting all your eggs in one basket IMO.
Gotta agree with your points Bondi
Bolton's stubborness over the last 2 years have included
1. "Teaching" Weitering to play forward when he is a defender
2. Refusing to play Curnow as a mid, especially now that we have Mckay and McGovern. In fact, there is more hypocracy there. If the argument is about lack of forwards dictating his decison to play Curnow in F50, the counterargument could be that we have a lack of big bodied mids, yet he still threw the kids into the cauldron this year
3. This stupid theory that Ed Curnow is a HF when he is so desperately needed in the guts
4. Having 2 slow HBs in Daisy and SImmo when that defence is slow enough already (Daisy would make a great F50 captain/general)
5. From all accounts, Jack was being groomed for a mid role this year, yet he persists with him a HF
6. The 'teaching' of Garlett to play HB
7. His hypocritical stance on some players at senior level being gifted games
8. The 'teaching' of Gibbons to play HF when he is a ball winner
9. His zoning disaster of 2018
I'm not calling for his head...he seems to be doing a good enough job of that without my help. I still believe the door is ajar on his coaching career beyond this year. If he cannot win one of the next two, the door will be closed.
If he cannot win at least 5 for the year, the door will be locked
