Yep - all of the forward group should be contributing with the "general" role. No reason why each person can't contribute, you know what they say, there is no i in team :)

The problem with this is that none of the forwards are experienced enough to be a general, that was Sellers point. You need someone experienced like Simpson or Thomas.

Without Doc, Simmo is the recognised back leader.

I would go with Daisy up front who is a proven forward. He has proved himself all over the field and is playing good consistent footy at the moment.

And has already been said releases Gibbons to show what he can do in his real position as a mid.

Better structure all round.

I suggested 2 weeks ago that Daisy go forward. Nobody appeared to be on board with it.

I thought maybe weitering would be brilliant for that. Once Williamson and McReadie are back. Take the discipline learnt from back and apply it to forwards.

nooooo. weiters is becoming a legits monster at the back. that's where he reads the game the best and has the most impact. he had a shocker last season (and imo) it was all due to the disruption of playing forward & back. no continuity.

Mmm. I heard him on SEN yesterday with KB and gee he was great. So switched on and articulate. Not at all clincal though..very warm. I guess I was thinking mainly of his obvious smarts and leadership ability.
Fair point though. McLure mentioned Simmo for the role... both he and Daisy are valuable contributors downfield though.
given the feedback it is a good thing I am not on match day selection committee! :yikes:  :fight:

I guess my feeling is that if you take a kid with pick 1 as a the best junior in the country playing as a defender, then play him as a defender. Draft forwards to play forward. I understand it if a player is struggling for form a la Jones, but Weiters has finally got his confidence back and playing great footy. Personally I think we really messed him up moving him forward in his second year. After a great first season down back, we put him forward and while he was decent, it wasn't long until his confidence was absolutely shot. We didn't let him settle in a role that he was familiar with. He finally looks like the player we drafted again and our CHB for the next decade. If it ain't broke...

Is 8 on the extended bench a record ? Hopefully Jack, Kennedy and Big K are in, with Daisy rounding out the bench.

Go Blues

But he was a forward originally wasn't he? I mean pre draft.

Oh. My bad. Not sure where I got thaT from. Thought I had heard he played as a foward for a time. Must have him mixed up with another player.

Well I remember a caller to SEN saying they had watched him all through his juniors and he played plenty forward and this bloke reckoned he was a better forward than back.

But keep him back. He’s like Harry Taylor.

Very good comparison. He is going to absolutely dominate games in another year or two

Yep, looks like:

Ins - Kreuzer, JSOS, Kennedy

Outs - Lobbe, Casboult, Setters

Great changes, big chance here!

Hey Verbs

Sorry I missed it - what did Mclure say?

He said our forwards were directionless. King showed some vision of our forwards running to the wrong spots. MacLure said when he was a young forward there was a general telling everyone what to do, and then he became that general. MacLure wanted Simpson to be the general, King was saying Charlie should be.

It has to be Daisy. Have said it previously. He's a smart footballer and also a leader. He will find the right spots himself and also direct the young fwds as to positioning
It's a no brainer.

That would be the worst position change in the history of position changes, possibly ever

I've seen worse, but then I watch a LOT of porn
