i was at the game and all i saw was long bomb into forward line and like the last few years we don't mark it and the opposition with numbers and speed take the ball and run it out with serious of handballs and delivery . Bolts has to change this under 12 game plan.
Agree totally. All I see is a 60's / 70's game plan of bomb it long and hope for a big mark, but if that doesn't happen we have no natural crumbers like in the Buckley, Sheldon, Marcou, Ashman, mosquito fleet era. I don't think that our coaches even consider teaching our small forwards how to crumb off a pack , or the tall forwards how to knock on a ball if they can't mark it, which is essential if we want to play the shit game style that we are playing. Harry is doing well. Charlie hasn't played a good game this year, the Bolt is a waste of space and sadly there is no-one else other than Kruezer, who is a poor mark for his size, but at least gets into the right positions, competes, is a good kick, is above average at ground level and a has a football brain.
I live in SA so I don't see any training, but I wonder how much time players get to work on their deficiencies instead of tactical drills that to date, and for the past few years have delivered zero. For example, I would have Paddy Dow training on his own for a month and a couple of days a week afterwards with Craig Bradley or Greg Williams teaching him how to kick to position on the run, because he can't kick for shit. We lambasted Carratzo for his kicking, but at least he got it 30 times per game.
I think that Bolton's time clock is running down. Our last experiment with a coach who had not played AFL ended with our first wooden spoon. This experiment isn't going much better. Getting thoroughly sick of excuses.
