The forward line of McKay Casboult Gov Polson Gibbons and Curnow had 4 tackles combined.

That is appalling

You would have to think that has a lot to do with the system. If we go in too fast and long there is noone there to tackle.
The Swans also have a nack of sitting back and way outnumbering the opposition forwards. They can afford to do it as Buddy is so good at holding the ball up as the only one ahead of the ball.
Too many tall forwards doesn't help. The 3 prong attack wont work. We all predicted that bringing in Casboult will create countless rebounds for the opposition and that is the way it went down.

Bolton needs to let go of his 'land of the giants' philosophy. I use think he did it as a subtle way of tanking but now I am convinced he thinks it is the way forward.

We need more fast twitch mobile players on every line and we need to move the ball quickly with shorter kicks and at angles. The way Ratts wanted us too in 2012.

So with McGovern injured and no casboult, exactly who would have rucked in the second half?

The 3 talls work if we only have the one ruckman and I thought levi was serviceable.

wow ... that's a horrible stat for us

As usual a negative comment.

It couldn't be an indicator of a bit of improvement could it?

Which is the point of my comment yesterday.

So we've won 4/12 quarters
We drew 1/12 quarters
Of the 7/12 quarters we lost, 4 of those we scored under 10 points...and that was when the opp spanked us the most

We've had Curnow available for 5/12 quarters
We lost Cunningham after Round 1
Gov finding his feet, still restricted and off for the second half last week
Setterfield regaining fitness
We've carried Gibbons, Fasolo, Polson and Garlett
No Ed or Murph in the middle
Fisher quiet start to the year
SPS a fraction better
Playing 3rd and 4h string ruck

No
Kruezer
Marchbank (last week was just a trial...thankfully didn't get injured)
Williamson
Kennedy
JSOS
Pickett
Macreadie
Doc
De Koning
Lang

All of this doom and gloom and our average losing margin (to a Rich who only lost Rance late, a Power in Adel who smashed Melb the week before and one of the best drilled sides of the last 15 years) has been 23 points

God help the competition when when we get our shit together!!

Mentioning Lang as an out would be the equivalent of WC fans mention Kane Lucas as a best 22 player.
Lang isn’t a Troy Menzel who had no excuses and should have made it.

I would give my eye teeth to have Docherty’s smarts and Yarran’s dash and skill in our backline.

Geez that's actually a great post 99. Much more reasoned than my rants during and post game these days ! I'm just suffering the "God I hate losing" thing that most Bagger supporters are feeling right now.

Russell has said that he needs another year with our list to get our best on the park in the shape they need to be to play A grade footy. I just hope we can snag a few along the way.....it would help the sanity

How many teams have had 24 scoring shots in a match so far this season?

Well done Blues, improve the accuracy and look out!

27 games 20 times teams got more than 24 scoring shots
Basically 7 out of the 18 teams a week

Thanks Sydney,

It's great to see we have moved into the top 1/3rd of teams for scoring shots on average in any given week this season. On this measure we are heading in the right direction.

Collingwood & West Coast have also each had 24 or more scoring shots on only one occasion this season. Several teams haven't achieved this as yet.

You don't need 27 if you can hit up a leading target and they kick straight.
Apart from that fact, it's a good effort.

Lang has been injured and had no fitness base to start with. I'll judge him after he's played (if he makes it that far) 20-30 games
Ask Geel supporters what they thought of Lang when he was fit. I think you'll find they rated him enough to not want to lose him

And...with such an insipid small fwd brigade who allowed the ball to exit F50 so easily
