Murph 29 touches (also at 72%)
plow - only 12 touches but 100% eff. 6 marks as well as 11 1% ers (most of any carlton player)
phillips 8 tackles (most of any cfc player)

We should have won. We just didn’t believe we could win. Brisbane are showing how to rise to expectations and take advantage of dominance. We were the better side for most of the game. No excuses

Great to see that jumper on the MCG again. It just belongs there.

Wooden spooner ...Carlton........57000 members....... 85000 attend home game at MCG on a school night.

Grand Finalist....... Coll'wood.....70000 members........78000 attend home game at MCG on a Friday night
Finalist................Melbourne....49000 members.........38000 attend home game at MCG on a Saturday arvo
2017 GF..............Adelaide.......60000 members.........50000 attend home game at AO on a saturday arvo

Umpires and AFL should show more respect for the jumper and their supporter base.
Make no mistake, Carlton is the sleeping giant.

Umpires failed to honour blatant free kicks to Carlton that resulted in Tigers goals.
That's the difference I saw.

Sure the Blues could have started with more vigour in the first quarter but lets be mindful, despite taking some time to get going in the first quarter:

Tigers kicked one goal from good play by them
Tigers kicked one goal from a clanger by Carlton on the last line
Tigers kicked 3 goals when umpires failed to pay obvious free kicks to Carlton prior.

There you go 5 goals head start.
That's the final margin.
You don't have to be Einstein to work out what happened.

I thought the young Blues looked a year or 2 away from hitting their straps but there's no doubt we have a list that will only get better.
I haven't looked at the comparison of interchanges, but some of our young kids laboured towards the end of quarters. No need to name them.

This was no honourable loss.
This was a sign of what is to come.

IF Charlie's fortunes changed a little we would have been right in it.
That will change too.

The signs that the players are gelling are there. 6 new faces. 13 changes from last game.
That fight back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters gave everyone belief the young Blues were going to roll the Tigers.
Don't forget that feeling. That's what I'm hearing from non Carlton and Tigers footy fans.

Nankervis 3 goals....FMD.
McKay clearly took the mark before Rance went down with a knee. That was the booing. Umpires
We would have been only 7 points down with momentum if the umpires did their job properly.

Go Bluebaggers.
I am expecting a good year ahead.

After seeing other forwards struggle in humid conditions on Friday I’m willing to cut Charlie a bit of slack. Rataguleas game mirrored Charlie’s.

Would be nice to see a similar campaign for the Richmond player who deliberately stomped on Fisher's leg while he was defenceless on the ground.

Carlton’s divine retribution came by way of Rance’s ACL.

If McKay and Setterfield had kicked those easy goals then the umpires didn't really matter.

At the game it was easy to be frustrated , especially in the first quarter andnwith that umpiring. As we earn the respect of the footy world that will improve.
Ultimately the big positive is wr now have lots of midfield talent and depth, albeit very young. The ability to run powerfully for 4 quarters is in the future.
That forward line has never played together. They also had a big disconnect with the midfield, who also hardly know each other.
Murphy doesn't hurt the opposition enough with his disposal.
Charlie is already a bit down in confidence and we would do well to take the pressure of him a bit.
Ed is not a forward.
We have the foundation but they have to grow together.
By the way, O'Brien was the standout player in the two's: unfortunately he is a genuine winger and that is where they are playing Murphy and Walsh. He could maybe replace Garlett on the back flank.

Jones, Weitering, Plowman, Simmo, Daisy, Newman. That's a competent back six. I'd rather we use Ed as the relieving defender than Garlett. Play Murphy at half forward and O'Brien on the wing.
Garlett can fight Fasolo for the 6th forward role. As much as I think Garlett's never going to be a defender, I rate him as a forward.

O'brien in for Garlett is a good call.

Pretty surprised at that to be honest.
I thought Cripps was BOG easily.

Have been searching but can't find it.... Got the above through twitter/footy boards searching. I understand there may be a glitch with the EFC* data..
