I'll start by saying two things that really bug me when watching a game are: 1. Our handball technique at times appear Under 12 stuff. No real hard punching of the ball so that it spins fast into the chest of the teammate. Slow, high, floating and half the time, inaccurate handballs do my head in. Sam Walsh and a few are good at it. Many of them are shocking at it! 2. Players are probably instructed not to do this but I wish they would soccer the ball off the ground a bit more when they have someone directly behind them. They waste a second to try and pick up the ball and without fail get wrapped up or worst still, pinged for holding it/incorrect disposal. If they got the ball moving along, they're buying more time for the cavalry to arrive, metres gained etc. I understand that may throw out the transitional play up forward but players can always reposition |

Could not disagree more strongly on point 2. Kicking the ball off the ground is lazy and weak. None of the best sides / players do it. You take possession when you get the chance and dictate the play. If you get tackled straight away free the arms, buy yourself a second or two, handball to advantage, Take the hit. There are a few exceptions to this, like in wet conditions or when you have team mates running into space and you can kick it into their path Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

If you don't, it's being smart, running after the ball, remaining in front of your opponent, gaining metres, maybe getting a good bounce etc. Not saying it should be a default move but I believe it isnt used enough Happy to disagree though |

Richmond move the ball forward by any means they can. Won a flag doing it. |

The player has to know what’s ahead and that they’re kicking to an advantage. Nothing does my head in more than a player hacking it off the ground because they don’t want to bend over / take a tackle just for the ball to go straight to an opposition player Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
