Agreed LOB no harm letting the skinny lad develop in VFL. Amazing we are at a point now where we can do that

Lucky we’ve got the luxury of having O’Brien and Kennedy as midfield back up if we get a couple of injuries to our starting AFL midfield.

Newman Jones Plowman
Thomas Weitering Simpson

Walsh Cripps Murphy

Petrevski-Seton CCurnow Cuningham
McGovern McKay Gibbons

Phillips Fisher Dow

ECurnow Settlefield JSilvagni Fasalo

Based on JLT I'm thinking Polson will get the gig over Fasalo but I would go with the experience. Rotate Jack and Ed on Cotchin and let the rest fight it out for the win.

I like that side but I think Garlett will get selected

The transformation of our list has been nothing but amazing.

The addition of McGovern, Newman, Fasolo, Setterfield, Gibbons and drafting of elite performer Walsh have added 6 class players to the list.

I can't believe players like 20yo OBrien 20yo, 22yo Jack Silvagni, 22yo Kennedy and 23yo garlett are considered peripheral players, but that just goes to show the depth we have compared to previous years. Any of these "peripheral players"would not be out of place in our best 22 even with the absence of injured players Docherty Marchbank Williamson Pickett and Kreuzer who could all stake a claim in our best 22. We could add Macreadie and Lang to that list.

I'll leave those decisions to the MC.

There's no right or wrong at this stage of the year. ust glad to see Philips rucking really well, and we able to cover the injured and underdone.

Garlett looks like he's what we need at HB. Thomas has been played there too over JLT, so its anyone's guess.

One week to go.

Surely Kreuzer wont play -Phillips has been pretty good in JLT -Garlett probably plays given small and nippy Richmond forward line

This team will get thrashed by a team with a ruckman and rwo extra midfielders.

Well, let's see.
It is thursday with 7 sleeps to go.
I'd say this is not likely until at least a few hours before your 8th sleep.
Until then, I'd say mounting hysteria, excitement, hyperbole, fanmania, team love...did i mention excitement... will heighten the drop from which you may or may not fall.
As it is 7 sleeps away, I am going to say
NO WAY!!!
WE IS GUNNA WIN!
WE IS GUNNA SMASH 'EM.
Go Blues.
We can win this.
:thanks:

I agree. If we can score more than them we will win. Bookmark it!

I agree that we can win this but:
I would probably rate Rance above Weitering or Jones (for 1 more year)
Cotchin above murph or SPS
Martin = Cripps (probably Cripps a shade better)
Jack R and Lynch above McKay and Charlie (for 1 more year)
Tigers small forwards probably better than our small forwards

So I do think whilst we have emerging talent, they have some experience and possibly bigger bodies in the centre. It would be a great win if we could achieve it - and a refreshing change but it will be a challenge.
I think the best part is we have a much more even strength over the ground than this time last year.

Richmond should win.
Their mids are better across the board for now and that's where this will be won and lost. The backs and forwards can all defend and attack so I think supply will be the difference. I expect the result to send a bit of a shockwave through the comp in that we will not get trounced.
Despite our recruiting and rebuild, most 'experts' still have us 17th or 18th. They are ignoring the fact that Hawthorn is on the decline, StK is in a similar position to us and that the Dogs haven't shown anything like their form of two years ago. I think we can finish 13-14, which is a decent springboard for 2020 and also a signal to the prospective FA that we are worth a try.
Add to that we beat a reasonable Essendon* team and almost over ran a near full strength Collingwood AFTER their coach told them he wanted them to put extra pressure on us n te fourth quarter, and my cup is half full.

We can win it, I just don't think we will.

Our last home game against them in the season opener (2 years ago, their eventual premiership year) I see Hughsey knocking a few back at the bar outside the Visy area (captains club member seating which is where I'm at with the old man) and so I go say g'day and ask what he reckons will happen. He goes "we're in it up to our eyeballs, we can win this".

By quarter time we're getting absolutely whalloped and I'm in the line for the gents' and he's there in front of me. I'm all like "Dave, say something funny... I need it".

And he goes: "I'm just as a depressed as you are".

TLDR: I hope not to have a repeat conversation with him this year. At least not until 3/4 time. Maybe.

The most remarkable part of that story is that you expected Hughes to say something funny.
