I think they’ll come out a lot harder than they did last year b/c of what happened in round 1 last year and because of what happened in the prelim.
And although Lynch is clearly going to be a bit underdone, I still think he is a net positive for them.

So, I’m revising my prediction: Carlton by 5 goals.

I’ve put a $1 on that tip. Thanks!

If he takes two bounces, do you lose?

I just read that the dictionary people have given in again and due to the fact that millions of english-speaking people don't know the difference, 'lose' is now to be spelled 'loose'.
That's my biggest disappointment since the Macquarie dictionary added 'youse' to the list of actual words.

am going - like the side and debutants - much different to last year -13 changes from side that played Adelaide in last round - unprecedented I think but also indicative of injury ravaged season last year

hoping I wont be disappointed by 8.20 tonight - excited to be amongst 90 k for a carlton home game

Does anyone believe Richmond would have played Lynch in the AFL against West Coast or Collingwood? With him probably playing 60% game time and the experimentation of Lynch, Balta and Riewoldt in the same forward line, I'd suggest they're not too concerned about us.
It makes me hate the smug flowers even more.

Hopefully their smugness proves to be their downfall. As others have said, they should and probably will win, but we are a sneaky chance. We can't afford to go missing for large chunks of the game as we tend to do and we must make the most of our opportunities.

Either way, am certain we'll put up a good fight. Hope we do as am sure tiggers went into 2008 to 2012 seasons with high expectations and we spanked them in round 1. Dented their confidence and I'm sure that led to the poor seasons they ultimately had. We must be competitive tonight build on that. Go Blues!

If they ever change "other than " to "other then" or "You're great" to "Your great".....I am going to go bananas.

Just need to keep the scoreboard ticking over rather then drying up for quarters at a time

I admire the positivity floating around but I honestly think we’re in for more of the same in 2019.

I don’t see where the short term improvement will come from. I think our list will start to look ripe in 2020. When it happens, I reckon we’ll be surprised at how quickly we move up the ladder. But I seriously doubt it will happen in 2019.

The 6-6-6 rule is the wildcard for me. Will it help us or will it expose a weakened defence? I suspect we’ll be scored heavily against in games where we don’t control the centre breaks. I shudder to think what will happen if Cripps gets injured.

Overall, I’m going into the season with low expectations. I just hope we’re consistently more competitive than we were last year. Injuries will be a major factor. In fact, injuries are already a factor with our backline depth seriously stretched before round 1 even starts (Docherty, Marchbank, Williamson, Macreadie + losing Byrne).

I will be there tonight to watch Murphy play game 250. A great achievement.

I’ll also be there to watch Walsh, Dow, SPS, Setterfield, Fisher & Charlie give us more glimpses of what we’ll (hopefully) see consistently from 2020 onwards.

But the Tigers will get the chocolates tonight. Reasonably comfortably too (unfortunately).

i agree Mickstar.

just went out for lunch and a tiger's supporter in the lift with me was talking about the 'prelim rematch' next week.

are the players thinking that too?

We've had enough pain and suffering over recent years ,it's time for these boys to make a statement tonight , that we are not going to be pushed around and be an embarrassing joke of the afl anymore . Unite behind Crippa and give the comp a preview of what's to come . Also congrats to Murph , he has been a true champ of this club . I'm sure he would have had offers from other clubs at various times but showed true loyalty when things were really shit . If that doesn't inspire the boys tonight then nothing will. GO BLUES !!!!

Just a bit excited but also a realist.
