Apparently McGovern has a fractured back after Thursday. 4-6 weeks.

Can anyone else confirm?

And I didn’t contribute to the Dr Reid/Essendon* thread to ward of bad karma as well, so clearly that didn’t work.

Good news that it’s not too bad.

“Following the Christmas break” equals Carlton-speak for sometime prior to Christmas 2019. Maybe.

Starting to accept that we are never rising up the ladder.

Yep. They'll be off for a couple of weeks anyway so no big deal.

The trend continues with these set-backs which just keep happening. Very disheartening.

If it is only one to two weeks and they are off for the 2 weeks. Why bother making a statement.
I know that they are trying to re-engage supporters but news like this could tip supporters over the edge.
I have visions of ikon park being wrapped in cotton wool.
With old ladies yelling at the coaches to leave our boys alone and wanting to drag players off the ground if it gets to rough.

Or should we all just start blaming Russell now. Might as well get in early because we know it eventually is going to happen

maybe because there were already rumours on the net and supporters were wondering what the story was?

Wow. Here I was thinking it was a simple 2 week injury. I didn't even consider the possible world changing implications.

2 x West Aus papers had released the story.
The story didn't say how long he would be out.
Carlton fans started running around with their hair on fire.
People needed the facts.
Club issued simple statement saying it's a 1-2 week injury to snuff out the flames.

Pretty good work really.

ye olde 1-2 weeks...

I sincerely hope he gets properly assessed and given extra time to recover before being thrown in to training again. Very happy we now have someone in charge of fitness who actually knows what they're doing.

I wonder if the Andy McKay definition of 1-2 weeks will disappear with him and start to provide some actual indication of severity under Brad Lloyd.
