Leading up to the 2016 draft, they were contemplating putting up Pick 1 for Setterfield instead of taking McGrath. There is all kinds of skullduggery going on when it comes to academy picks. GWS needed to go into that draft with a truckload of picks that they never intended to use, just to build up the points required to select their three academy players in the first round. If Essendon* bid pick 1 for Setterfield, they would've got him. |

Carlton have made it no secret last year, this year and next year we are Trading in players we need to finalise the team for the 17th Premiership Cup. We have a plethora of names. Like last year there will be names we didnt expect or consider that popped up such as Newman and later in the piece Setterfield. We knew about Shiel, McGovern and Fasolo. Didn't have any inkling mid season we would take Gibbons Cottrell DeLuca. This year there will be another surprise or 3 coming to the Blues. Apparently the phone is running hot with candidates lining up to be considered. ...and 2 or 3 of those bandied around below are going to be in Dark Navy Blue next year: Coniglio Martin Papley Ellis Cameron Gray Get on board The Teague Train.
