1964 was our previous worst season finishing 10th just ahead of South Melbourne and Fitzroy (who were winless ) but this year was just @#$%&! horrible

We did improve in 1965 & 1966 And finished 2nd in 1967 before I saw my first flag in 1968

We can live in hope

It was also the year Melb won the flag

If my dad weren't already dead, this year would have done him in for sure.

The only thing more disappointing in 2018 than the performance on field has been the "performance" by supporters online.

The english premier league season is 15 days old and my team has already won more games than carlton has in the last year. That's my pro and my con. Plus i can turn off channel 7 for the year and take a long, hot shower. Pass the dettol.

Woeful year. Our new attacking game plan has successfully resulted in us barely getting beyond 50 points and the opposition scoring freely.

Yeah, it's pretty interesting. We scored 1353 points this year. Compared to 1594 last year, and 1568 the year before. We all know there have been some mitigating circumstances. But it tells you we clearly got it tactically wrong this year. At least we could see what we were doing in 2016-2017. But this year we've failed to either defend or score. :banghead:

but wasn't this the year that bolts promsied we would be more attacking after two years of being defensive to contain the opposition scoring - we were expected to start scoring more having perfected our degfensive game.........but they seemed to relax after kicking the first five goals againstr richmond in round one thinking how good is this?

To me the crowd at that game was indicative of the entitled culture our supporters feel.

What do you mean by entitled culture?
I reckon our crowds have been reasonable despite stinking it up for 15 years.
Carlton fans have done well.

Fair call. I used to go to both Rich and Carlton games with my mates (Tiges and Filth fans) each year. Haven't been for a while now, and attendances for those games are nowhere near what they used to be as we're so shite. There's only so much the fans can take. Time for the club to give them a reason to come back through the gates.

Very telling stats.

184 votes and nearly half went to one player.

And our “captain” got 5.

For a season.

The afl might have to intervene at Carlton!

The season is over and I am sure we are all glad about that.

I know all in my house are.

the season was always going to be tough with the losses of Gibbs and Docherty off season but we were then cruelled with injury especially down back early in games and in warm ups.

Not sure if it was a lack of bench rotations or poor conditioning but really struggled to run out quarters let alone games.

We won as many games interstate as Richmond this season

Totally agree with this order.
I think this top 3 order will be the same as our Best & Fairest too.
I will be disappointed with the coaching staff if their votes ended up getting Murphy in the top 3 of the best & fairest.

Murphy missed games through injury and was subsequently unfit for those he did play in. He'll be a good player next year, captain or not.

Glad it's over on both counts

I'm philosophical about it now... If we finished with 6 or 7 wins, what difference would it make?

Hopefully in the scheme of things, with progression, this year will end up neither here nor there..

Go you good things

Confidence!! Brisbane go into the preseason with the knowledge they can not only compete but their game style stands up and their young guns are already turning into stars.

We go into preseason with no idea if our gameplan will ever stand up, massive question marks on our coach and many of the players and no confidence we can kick a winning score!!

Sorry Scottopee.... I meant going into LAST year's pre season... ie without Gibbs and Doc and the thought that we would probably tread water (thus 6or 7 wins) while the youngsters developed....
That's what I meant about this year, only two wins, could be neither here or there.
I agree with you though, there now should be clear aims of what we should be doing, assuming we'll have players back on the park...
Will be an interesting pre-season and first 5 to 7 games...

Go Blues
