Well, when you put it like that!

Although, McKay is largely responsible for many of those areas and while he may not have been the first to go, I'd say there's a similar thread there.

The Trigg sacking does stand out somewhat though.

I'm just praying this all works.

I think we're all doing that.

He certainly seems more qualified than McKay was.

Hopefully he can gel with SOS/Bolts etc.
We need a bit of stability

What are you talking about not qualified? McKay's a vet! Do you know how intelligent one needs to be, to be a vet?

You need to be pretty smart to stick your arm up to your elbow up a cows vagina.

Once saw him repair a cracked tortoise shell with Selley's super glue. True story. While the glue was setting, he took a hay seed out of a Labrador's eyeball and euthanized two cats. About 35 minutes work. It's not always about intelligence - it's about recognizing that if you're bloody good at something, you should stick with it.

Not really a Cox Plate gig! But I have some bias. If it's any consolation - he captained a winning VFL Grand Final at Princes Park. Bob Chitty did that. Pretty good company.

Big believer in list depth. Which is generally a good thing unless you have 4 or 5 ruckman on the list...which Freo has had during his tenure. He and SOS will have some things to work out but generally he's known as a good operator.

We currently have 4 guys on our list that have played as first ruck over the last 2 seasons... Freo have been planning for Sandilands retirement... Freo use the rookie list which is a good thing, and Lloyd should make SOS accountable

Few blokes over 200cm who can play ruck for Freo on the senior list.

Michael Apeness (200cm) - Pick 17
Sean Darcy (201cm) - Pick 38
Lloyd Meek (203cm) - Pick 69
Scott Jones (203cm) - Pick 75

Rookie List - Luke Strnadica (200cm)

I couldn't possibly have more than 3 rucks on the senior list. 2 and a ruck rookie enough for me. With Kreuzer and Lobbe not going to last too much longer...end of next year we should be targeting a ready made one.

Of course it might just be that a small yet powerful group within the club are driving the agenda and have selected a group of inexperienced people for senior positions because they would be more willing to work within a framework decided by them. That could happen as well.

Of course it could also be that the club wanted to get a young management group that have a very modern view of the game/competition.

Going through the rebuild that we are, we need all parties to be fully committed to the drafting process and not have some of the older sentiments of buying a player to get short term success.

I believe that Lloyd will hold similar view to SOS in that high end draft picks must be used on talented kids or proven A grade players in the 23-26 year old range.

I can't see either of them agreeing to a Judd type trade.

the bigger problem here is:

rookie ceo
rookie president
rookie head coach
rookie football ops manager
and a squad list manager who's only prior was working in the unique situation of a an expansion club where you are starting from scratch - ie not very applicable to the real world.

conventional wisdom suggests at some point the club needs a wise head with experience to guide the newbies from point a to b ... as of right now we are the carry over wooden spoon of the women's league, we will be in the men's seniors with the Ants not far behind them both.

but hey look! our memberships are on 50k!

5 years in the job this October. 8 years on the board. When does rookie status disappear?

Yeah, but he wasn't president of an AFL club before he became our pres.

He might have some height on his side, but otherwise, he's no good. I mean, he didn't even play at the highest level like our last pres! Who was really tall, too, btw.

I hear he's still eligible for the rising star.

Perhaps when we're no longer the afl laughing stock?
