Nah - more than experienced for this gig. Similar step that Graham Wright has made at Hawthorn. The fact that he was at ESP as player manager and then went into list management is a good combination.

Happy to give him a go, we need a circuit breaker.

Not really a Cox Plate gig! But I have some bias. If it's any consolation - he captained a winning VFL Grand Final at Princes Park. Bob Chitty did that. Pretty good company.

So you're saying he's as good as Winx? Wow, that's awesome for us.

As in not many people wanted/applied for the job, or…

As in we didn't interview many from a reasonably sized list of applicants?

Old Carlton would’ve gone for Gubby the grub.

wondering if Brad Lloyd was interviewed for the coaching job that went to BB.

Reason being, he may have interviewed well and Carlton were impressed enough to get him to the club in whatever capacity they could.

Just curious.

Wasn’t that Simon Lloyd?

Has to be some risk In appointing an inexperienced footy ops manager when you have inexperienced CEO and head coach, particularly with the leadership provided by a board and president who haven't covered themselves in glory.

He could be the right guy in the right environment, but is that us?

All of our senior appointed positions (except SOS) have no power base or history of success in their roles . Makes it difficult to drive a change agenda if the club puts up road blocks or starts to fall back into bad habits. This ain't the Hawks, Tigers or Geelong etc. we're basically still rubble.

Good luck to Brad and the rest. Hopefully MLG supports their efforts or at the very least gets out of their way so they can get the job done.

Is there any evidence to suggest the club has been putting up road blocks to anyone wanting to effect positive change? Or that we are, or might, fall back into bad habits.

From the outside, I'm not sure the club has been this united for decades.

I said IF.

Who knows what the internal workings of the club are like but if kicking out your CEO, your GM Of footy, AFLW coach, finishing last in both the mens and womens, the VFL going like a busted and with (rumoured) significant changes in the coaching staff at years end are signs of solidarity, then sure, we're rock solid.

Of course it might just be that a small yet powerful group within the club are driving the agenda and have selected a group of inexperienced people for senior positions because they would be more willing to work within a framework decided by them. That could happen as well.

Not saying its the way it is but from the outside, the CEO, GM of Footy and senior coach look vulnerable. That's not a great basis for driving change if the organisation isn't 100% behind it.

Put it this way I have far more faith in Lloyd, Liddle and Bolton than MLG and the board. Who wins if there's a fork in the road moment?

Well, when you put it like that!

Although, McKay is largely responsible for many of those areas and while he may not have been the first to go, I'd say there's a similar thread there.

The Trigg sacking does stand out somewhat though.
