I think he also says that Carlton will play lots of Sunday afternoon games, as punishment.

Clubs will crack it and the AFL will change their minds and give us nothing, just like the PP situation.
Corrupt Gil at his best again.

We should be focussing our anger on and venting at the AFL Commission.

It is so obvious they have an anti Carlton agenda.

and they have done nothing but stuff up the game and say the game is in a healthy state becauuse the figures say so. None of those figures are a direct result from initiatives of Gil or Demetriou led Commission. They are in charge of a monopoly and are not accountable to anyone.

Gil sneaks ot back doors to avoid the media, and when he's asked on OTC questions about the state of the game he digresses to talk about other stuff, or throws a question as an answer, and Gerard and his team don't pursue him about equalisation and the points they raise with passion when Gil isnt around.

Something fishy going on with Gil's Commission.

Quote:
The 2018 clash drew 90,151 fans as the Tigers unfurled their premiership flag, only to concede the first five goals then rally to win 17.19 (121) to 15.5 (95).

AFL general manager of clubs and broadcasting Travis Auld told AFL.com.au the Blues were never going to be stripped of the fixture privilege despite their struggles in recent seasons.

But Auld hinted Carlton would make fewer appearances in the marquee Friday night timeslot.

"This particular slot stands alone," Auld said.

"It's averaged an 80,000 crowd for the last (four) years and last year's crowd was over 90,000 and a really good game – a high-scoring game – and rated really well in broadcast.

"We understand there was some feedback last year about Carlton, particularly Friday nights, and that will be addressed through the fixture.

Nope. We’re off prime time, so all their ratings troubles will now disappear.

So we still have to play a top 6 team twice?
The formula allows for the bottom 6 to play a top 6 team either once or none.
We always get the harder draw, I will be interested to see if GC have to play a top 6 team twice.

They have thrown in Dogs (Premiers 2016) as one bottom 6 team and Swans (finals last 10 years and GF 2016) as middle 6.

Couldn't ask for more generous offerings there. Out of the middle six, who would you rather play twice more? Swans, GWS, Cats, North, Port, Essendon* or Adelaide? Swans most likely to slide the most out of all of them, have looked bad at home and an awful record at the G. Maybe Essendon* from a gate perspective, but from a purely easy draw perspective, that's the best of the lot.

Out of the 5 bottom 6 sides, we avoided the two most likely to improve in Brisbane and Freo. Two less interstate trips. In any other year without the GC being so trash, I reckon the Dogs are a decent chance as any for the spoon.

I suspect Richmond a necessity for keeping the Rd 1 game.

We could start winning with high scoring games and then fixture problems would be sorted? This year the worst thing about Friday games was losing in a shitty scrappy affair before the weekend even started. At least on Sunday games there's 2 days before the disappointment.

We now have to wait until Thursday for the draw to come out.
Apparently some errors that need fixing.

Could those errors be that Carlton have games on Saturday afternoons, Saturday nights, Sunday afternoons and Sunday evenings while I’m trying to have dinner with my family and watch something good???

Fix this shit AFL!

Kayfabe. Hopefully they implode and it's a weekly spectacle of teams gnawing on the carcass.
