We had a good team on paper. Unfortunately, the game was played on grass.

Emergencies 24. Cameron O'Shea 41. Levi Casboult 21. Jarrod Garlett

and In: Byrne, Thomas, Lang, Lamb, Rowe

Hopefully Lang and Byrne take their chance but the rest of the ins and emergencies are depressing. What's wrong with giving another kid a go against a side simular to us???? :hitcomputer:

Thanks Rexy.

Back to business.

Plenty to play for this season under current rules.

We will learn a lot about our developing, albeit young, contested players:

Dow is 19yo and extracts and runs. Clearance player.
Kennedy is hard on the inside and can kick a goal.
OBrien can win his own ball and runs all day. Known to be an accurate long pass.
Sammo has all the skills in the world to be a McLeod type. Has been called up by his coach for short passes.
Pickett is strond and holds his ground. Its his pace tp break lines and kick/assist goals he makes his name.
Charlie has all the skills and depends on delivery.
Byrne is good for his height against smalls and his willingness to break lines. Can take over Doc/ Simmo role.
Lang is strong enough to win his own ball and is quick. Good kick at goal.
Polsonhas shown hee is an inside player and willing to take on opposition. Need goals from him.

The above 9 players are kids who play a contested game.
If they show improvement we might win.
Nevertheless it is an opportunity to watch their growth.
I'm sure we will see lots of signs if we look for them.
If you see those signs, enjoy the evolution of a player. If not, back to the draw board and other options.

I think Murphy and Cripps have alot of reason to show something after both signing for 2 extra years.

Lobbe, Lamb, Wright playing for their career for rest of the year.

Might stay on but may become/remain permanent VFL/ depth players

Carlton by 10 points

McKay 4 goals
Curnow 4 goals
Cripps 2 goals
Murphy 2 goals
Wright 1 goal
Polson 1 goal
SPS 1 goal
Land 1 goal
Dow 1 goal

That'll do. They've done that before, exception McKay. Come on Harry.

Carlton to kick 100 points.

Lang doesn’t deserve a game

Graham despite his limitations does better than these two yet is dropped every week
Why not play Schu

I'm hopeful that the match committee (whoever they are) are taken to account during the end-of-season review.

Lang is the future, Graham won’t be here next year.

I'd prefer Schumacher was just given the rest of the year to develop in the VFL personally. We've got enough kids getting monstered each week and he does still need a fair bit of physical and on field development.

That half forward line will give teams nightmares in the future. Hurry up and give them a midfield!

This week I'd like Kennedy to back up his game from last week and one of Lang, Polson, Pickett or SPS to step up in a similar way.

The team reads like Rowe might be the second ruck. Good move to keep Harry out of there for now.

Just wondering if they pick a team to win games under the circumstances re: injuries.
Personally I would have left Rowe out and put in Schumaker or left in Garlett and told them to attack the goals at all costs.
There are a few slippery outside runners in the team as well as those inside who can get the footy out into space.
I don't think there is any way now we won't finish last so why not tell the boys to go out and play by instinct, man on man and every time they get the footy in space to run and carry.
They can't possibly be looking forward to going out every week and playing such a structured game which is designed for a steady back six.
We only have two players who have played every game, SPS and Cripps. The backline has been decimated and so there is no way they can be expected to nail down the zone if they never play together two weeks in a row.

I'd love to see the shackles removed for a few weeks just to see what they are capable of. It worked for Richmond and now Collingwood and maybe GWS. Yes they've got better lists on the park but the mindset is completely different to go with it.

Come on Bolts. I want to see a few frees against for running too far or HTB because someone got tackled taking a risk. I'm bloody sick of watching us hand the ball over meekly through skill errors and poor decision making.
