Yeah, I can’t see it happening, but financially for the AFL it would make sense to give Blues picks 1 & 3 ,as it sells hope, even if it is misplaced hope as let’s face facts for 20 years Carlton supporters have been sold the lie that a number 1 pick is the panacea to our problems and where are we? 2 wins. A safer bet for AFL in media terms is pick 1 & 11.

The draft is a sideshow anyway (trading & free agency is where the money deals are made now) and this is why-(imagine my shock !!)as Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn will make the finals yet again. Yes GWS I am like a broken record.

Geelong- who scored their goals Hawkins f/son pick at 43 or whatever. Dangerfield nominated Geelong. No other club could seriously bid on him.

Sydney- who got them over line against GWS? Wow! What a surprise Franklin. A player they got as they had extra million in salary cap.

Hawthorn-would they have won 2-3 matches this year without Mitchell? A player that they basically traded in for free. Would he have gone to Carlton if they bid on him? No way.

What did he say kezza? Can't find anything on it. Ta.

Check the AFL website.
Basically says he would be disappointed if Carlton and Gold Coast receive PP"s after their first picks.
It could mean the Bulldogs get pushed back 5 places ( 2 PP and Lynch compo).
Goes on to say that Carlton and the Bulldogs are a similar age demographic and praised our young players and how we almost beat them today.
Blah Blah

Edit. Just saw the link has been posted.

Love how in the comments section, the highest rated comments are "@#$%&! Carlton, let them die" and "WHY DIDN'T Essendon* GET ANY HELP, THEY WERE HURT WORST BY PENALTIES!!!". People are great.

Pick 1 for drug cheating is the optimal reward.

Does anyone have a list of all priority draft picks (pick numbers) handed out in the last 20 years, and to which clubs?

Now I really hope we're given a before-1st-round PP so we get to see a "Bevo Devo" headline.

Best outcome would be one high draft pick and a PP high enough to get us really great mature age players as well.
Getting us back into finals contention is great for footy. Getting Hawks/Cats/Swans out of 8 for a few years is also good for footy.
The best outcome will be having a 5 or 6 year run of Blues/ Pies/Tiggers/Cheats/plus mix of Dees and other lower fan base clubs. ( imho)

The last Priority Pick was given to Brisbane a few years ago at the end of the first round (Pick 19).

I genuinely believe the AFL will NOT give us or GC a PP before the first round. Giving out a before-the-first-round PP should only be done for diabolical Fitzroy mid-90s type situations. Neither us nor GC are at that state.

I think it will be a middle of first round pick to us and GC, before the teams who made the 8, around pick 12 & 13. GC will get pick 3 for Tom Lynch compo.

So we could get: 1 & 12.
Gold Coast would get: 2, 3 & 13, if my math is right.

I think that is reasonable, if it happens. I don't believe our list is a basket-case. We simply have a massive hole between ages 23-27. If we stand firm, recruit well, fix our broken fitness/health situation we will naturally improve inline with what Brisbane did this year. We are better positioned than St Kilda for example.

We fix this ourselves, otherwise we will forever be a loser club. No begging, but yes we should apply for a PP, but we should not expect it to be pick 3.

Yep. Reckon that'll be about right. Don't agree that the freebie at 12 should be a mature-ager. Should be anyone we want.

You couldn't reasonably enforce the idea of being given a pick that *had* to be traded. The club that received it would be flooded with ambit claims and and would likely never get value for their trades as everyone would be after it.

Because we live in a Victim Olympics society these days. Essendon* didn't cheat, they were victims of drugs. Whereas Carlton tried to cheat the system, and there is nothing worse on Gods green earth than cheating the system in a socialist society, unless of coarse your in a position of power, then its required behavior. Kind of like how the AFL acts ...

Sam McClure says we will not get a PP before the first round so Bevo can relax.

I hope you're wrong dlb99. If that scenario plays out, GC get two of Walsh, Rankine, Lukosius and we go even further behind them.

PLUS, Lynch further improves a current top 4 side.
