I’m not actually advocating for the PP, I just want the Gil and the AFL to look as stupid and hypocritical as possible as they justify giving Gold Coast one and not us.

Agree with AGRO’s above two posts.

I would be curious to know what the outside factors beyond the control of the Gold Coast management and board that caused their failure.

Were they not in control of drafting, trading, coach selection, fitness staff? They have their own home ground. They have excellent facilities. I’m not sure losing players because the team is crap isn’t self inflicted. Bugger up the above and the outcome is players fleeing.

Again, don’t mind if they get one and don’t care if we don’t. But it is self inflicted and I think the only reason they will get one is the AFL has to protect its asset (liability really). I’m ok with that. A little honesty around the reasoning would be nice, but I know it won’t happen. The AFL will just pretend it’s different somehow.

Thankfully it doesn’t really affect us for once, more an issue for Adelaide who might be pushed down and miss one of the top two/three talents.

What happened with Melbourne? Did they get one or was it end of round 1? They were crap for a number of years b4 rootsy took over. How do the number of wins stack up against them over the last few years?

We have been down the bottom of the ladder for a long time.
They can't base it on subjective decisions on the coach, the list, short term trends, list decisions...

Yes. Yes they can. Carlton's is self-inflicted. Gold Coast's is not.

Gold Coast chose to be located on the gold coast, it’s self inflicted.

100% agree with you on that, their club is massive.

They just bullied their way in, thinking they know everything as per usual. Typical of the AFL muppets led by the biggest muppet of all time.......Andrew the "poo"!

Heaven forbid that we ask for one!

Quote:
ST KILDA will consider approaching the AFL for a priority pick in this year's NAB AFL National Draft after a season ravaged by unforeseen player setbacks.

While extra assistance has traditionally been made as a result of on-field performance, the new criteria - introduced in 2012 - also takes into account excessive injury rates.

Now, where are the Saints on the ladder again??

Nek minute.........Melbourne throw their hat in the ring!

Lucky we don't want to be seen as the "handout" club!

Geelong should apply. That town is a shithole.

We've had an All Australian ruled out for two straight seasons by injury. The AFL should give us a new one. Lachie Whitfield, please.

So why sack a coach if the problem is just injuries? I also remember seeing an injury ladder where we were the second or third most affected team. Sorry, not an excuse either. Poor injury management is also self inflicted.

There’s no way saints deserve anything. If we couldn’t get a PP last year then no one should ever get one

But your'e happy with Free agency?

As an FYI, if they get rid of PP (or a version of) and keep free agency, then bottom teams will remain bottom teams and top teams will keep picking them off. Especially when a player in a bottom team is more valuable to that team than the top team they are going to (i.e. Waite). The AFL will always compensate to the latter (i.e. Nothing).

So what's the harm in a PP to help struggling clubs (i.e. 4 years in the bottom 4), the top teams can't get all the talent......raw or developed. And they will only be pushed down the pecking order 1-3 picks which could then be traded anyway for an in-contract B+ or A-Grader that they have too many of. I would think the AFL would prefer an even comp where each year the bottom or top could be anyone. That puts bums on seats. Hocking and co are just greasing up their mates and teams by denying us anything for years, even if we don't need it. You don't think it's ironic that he now wants to bring in mid season trading now the Cats are on top of the ladder?

So why is it ridiculous?

Because it’s a system that rewards poor performance and is entirely at the discretion of the AFL which has proven time and time again to be a corrupt organisation. I would like the same rules for everyone. The bottom team gets the number one pick, it’s reward enough
