Carlton would grab a Priority Pick in a flash, if offered.
Lets check after the Hawks game the issue should get more coverage and tongues wagging again.

Every pick counts when you're on the bottom and have the worst season in 120 or whatever years.
Can it be any more obvious than that?
Pick 19 isn't even close to the assistance we need.

Can we dream?
Pick 2 would be lovely. I'm sure the AFL would say we have to trade one of 1 or 2 for a player.
Shiel and Walsh would be great gets.

I think the big one will be the gold coast game. Lose that and I think we're a dead cert for a PP. Lose bad and it could be pre round 1 PP. (I actually think we'll knock them off)

A sweet dream indeed and would atone for the AFL's ineptitude for our 2003 penalties.

I understand the clubs stance but I fear GC could end up with Pick 1 as a priority pick if we don't apply as well. That would reduce a lot of our bargaining power.

The club is a rabble

Coming out publicly to say we are not applying for a PP was so obviously dumb

Now we are back pedalling and look so foolish

No doubt stemming from overestimating the quality of our player list and believing the 3 year build was on track

We really do need a reality check

Yes sadly must agree. Love SOS and think he has drafted and traded ingeniously at times but the PP stance is just downright stupid. I mean REALLY REALLY dumb.

Worried it would put off a FA?? Really? What FA would want to come to CFC right now? Get the PP and look at FA at a more realistic time, hopefully next year. Get as many high picks as possible and prey a couple kids can impact straight away. It can happen. Smith I see as a mid who maybe can impact straight away. And sort out the medical side at the club because the amount of injuries is ridiculous and hard to believe just down to bad luck.

Saying we don't need a PP makes me lose almost all respect for the club.

We agree on something. The afl will find a way to diminish our value in favour of GC with the Lynch FA deal.

Back to normal programming soon.

Absolutely. The expansion clubs are the priority.
CFC have 16 flags, over 100 years of history.
Mclachlan has already created the embers saying CFC have a very talented list.
We will get 19 and GC could well get 1.

I'd say the AFL would give Carlton #3 and GC #4 as priority picks.

Carlton #1, #3
GC #2, #4

AFL will consider giving Carlton a priority pick, but only if it asks for one
Herald Sun JULY 20, 2018

GILLON McLachlan says the AFL will consider granting Carlton a rare priority pick if the Blues backflip on their decision not to request one.

Carlton takes on Hawthorn on Sunday, hoping to dodge a one-win season after their worst start to a VFL/AFL season in the club’s history.

Speculation is mounting the Blues might reconsider their decision given the possibility the league might grant them an extra second-round pick.

Carlton’s stance was made public in late May, but the Blues have lost six consecutive games by an averaging margin of 42 points since then.

McLachlan said that unless the Blues officially applied for the contentious list allowance, the AFL couldn’t assess their chances.

“I haven’t turned my mind to it because it’s well known they said they didn’t want one,” McLachlan said.

“Whether they change their position or not? If they do we will have a look at it.”

putrid.
stupid games.
this should ll be played out behind the scenes.
it is in AFL's interest to get us back up the ladder. We have a huge latent fan base.
