Easily justifiable if there's only one application in front of them.

Agreed - better than 199...but on the back of his combine performance and what was said about him by those he interned for at Merrill Lynch - it didn't seem that strange at the time.

Saints only have one pick in the first fifty or something, so maybe we should give them our two seconds and a future third for their first rounder

This is Jon Ralph's tweet from last night.
"AFL has clarified tonight the pre-draft priority pick is a thing of the past. Good news. Some clubs have claims on a draft pick after the first round (pick 19 onwards) but not before. Blues, Suns will apply. If the Lions win a fifth game this weekend does that count out?"

Phew, bullet dodged. We can't have struggling teams getting any real assistance now can we?

What an absolute flog to say good news.

Whateley: Is it possible Carlton and Gold Coast will have the first five picks in this year's draft?

Hocking: There is a lot of water to go under the bridge. I'm not going to answer that.

Who gives a shit about Whateley and the rest of the media , seriously who is running the AFL , the media or the AFL . It infuriates me that the media have so much say and seem to have so much control over the state of the game . They all have there own agenda and are far from impartial , the bias they show to certain clubs is appalling .If the AFL has any spine at all they will give us and GC the picks we need to make us more competitive . How can they say it is an equal comp when the top clubs are allowed to raid the bottom clubs thus giving us no chance to build for the future . If the likes of Hawthorn want Tom Lynch they should have to pay him the market rate ( as set by the AFL ) instead of being able to offer less money to join a top club .

I’ve heard that “Maky Uppy HQ” are more concerned about St Kilda than us.

I would be filthy if St Kilda got a PP this year.
They have just missed finals the previous two years while we have sitting in the bottom 6.
They chose to trade away future picks and now the AFL are concerned and want to help them.

Not St Kilda getting a PP but us getting one.

I heard Hocking on SEN flagging early access to mature aged players as possible assistance to Carlton, along with possible priority picks in the draft. Many options on the table from what I can gather.

I don’t know anything about the Merrill Lynch scenario. Would be interested to know about it.

Whatever happened in Brady’s career to that point, the biggest element if I was a recruiter is
A- he kept fighting and fighting to win bowl games etc when in seemingly impossible positions. It’s called heart.
B- he basically was the main reason why Michigan beat Alabama. Any win over Bama is a big deal.

How recruiters can pass over that is insanity for me, but we put our trust in people who are basically guessing. “Educated” guessing in a lottery.

Trading from a position of strength is the future. Hawthorn had the evidence on how good Tom Mitchell was, easy pickings, no cost, happy days.

I think most of the other AFL clubs would prefer us to hand back the keys

Carlton will apply.

What was said in May is dust in the wind.

No, St Kilda getting a PP will draw outrage; they just missed the 8 last year.

This thread is just about the dumbest thread ever and there’s some fair competition in there. We said we weren’t interested so as to remove accusations of tanking.

Guess what - it worked!

If there are any priority picks this year we will get one.

Hilarious how people keep hanging on the words of media geniuses around this issue but don’t rate anything they have to say on any other issue.

I'd like to know who the tanking accusations would have come from. Reckon you're giving the club a bit too much credit.
