This fixture has brought it’s share of pain in recent years. The Lions will fancy their chances against us.

In- Kreuzer, Thomas
Out- Casboult, Polson

Even though SOJ finished the game today, our recent history with treating ankle injuries means he will probably miss 1-2 weeks....

I didn’t see today’s VFL game, but I read Lobbe was in the best players. If Kreuzer doesn’t come up, I would consider giving Lobbe a go.

Hopefully Cunningham, Macreadie & Marchbank return in the VFL this week. With a bit of luck, that trio + LOB & Byrne will force out the likes of Graham, Lamb & Mullett over the next few weeks, and put pressure on SPS, Garlett & Wright to lift their games.

B: Simmo Rowe Weitering
HB: Thomas Jones Murphy
C: Dow Cripps Mullett
HF: Fisher C Curnow Garlett
F: Pickett Phillips Wright
R: Kreuzer Kennedy E Curnow

Inter: Graham, Lamb, SOJ, SPS.

Bring the sunscreen boys. Going to be a warm one. Probably need to drop the ginger nut Phillips for this one. The zinc ain't a great look...

In: Kreuzer/McKay, Thomas, O'Brien
Out: Casboult, Mullett, SPS

SPS did have seven tackles but he just goes missing too often. I want to see him play in the 2s and rack up 30+ touches a couple of times so he can come back into the side with some confidence with the ball in hand.
Polson is an interesting one. The positive from today was that he got his hands on the footy in space a few times which he hasn't really done before. The negative was that he butchered it on each occasion. Undoubtedly his pace across the ground has enabled us to apply more forward pressure in the past couple of weeks which has contributed to our improved performances. It will be interesting to see how the match committee respond to his game today.

That's why I'm not going this year... Young bloke still is though... Hope he hasn't blown his hard earned savings

Out:? Silvagni...?
In: Thomas?

I'd like to see Polson stay in..
I'd be happy with no change

At the ground, it was clear today that Polson was busting his gut to apply forward pressure. But 7 possessions and 2 tackles isn’t going to cut it. Pickett had the same stats, but that’s all he needs to have an impact. Polson hasn’t shown at VFL or AFL level that he is a one-touch ball handler or that he regularly hurts the opposition with his possessions. I would guess at least 3 of his 7 today went straight to PA players.

I’m not putting a line through him at all, but I said about a year ago that I doubt he’ll make it and nothing since has changed my mind.

Hopefully he proves me wrong

Extra days break and Lions coming back from Perth
At best we will only be 6 goals down at quarter time

My thoughts exactly. Dread this game every year.

Brisbane will be 'up' for it as they usually are for us. This won't be easy and we'll need the older senior players to back up their effort from yesterday.

They have too much running power for us to handle... we'll be lucky to get within 3-4 goals.

I am hoping just for an "honourable" loss of under 30 points against Brisbane. Plenty of "green shoots" with a loss by under 30 points. There are "little wins" within each loss.
The team will respond to adversity against Brisbane by losing by under 40 points and kicking more than 50 points in the match.

In terms of the “little victories” table Carlton is mid table. With win-loss just forget about that table. Not relevant.
So many "green shoots" will then be obtained. It will almost be like an acre of bamboo with all the green shoots. Green shoots abound.

They should not only do it for Aaron Mullet's 14th match, but do it for Levi's 104th game. Let's hope the growth continues with another loss of under 30 points. Then that loss will be a victory in itself.

I think Kreuzer might be out another week as had concussion issues but if he's in be interesting to see what happens. Phillips played well but be can't play 2 ruckmen as it's never worked. Means one has be forward most of the game and we definitely don't need that. No point having a ruck there when you can have a real forward. Kills the effectiveness of both their games. Always play players in their right roles. So a choice will need to be made there and Kreuzer is always first choice.

McKay comes in for Casboult, who just isn't fit and takes the forward/2nd ruck role. Probably time for that change more permanently.

This is the "trap" game the last few years. Play well against top sides leading up then go play Brisbane half arsed, thinking we're in good form playing a fellow bottom side. Then we don't switch on and get pumped in the first half. This is a tester for Bolton to learn and get them up for the game. It won't look good for him if we only win one game for the season. Injuries or not we are better than that.
