Brisbane are very disciplined with their defensive structure and preventing freo from transitioning the ball.

Has the possibility been considered by anyone that we've actually asked the AFL about it, and they said "No way, but you can control the narrative any way you want"?

That sounds a little conspiracy theorist. Why would the AFL give a toss about letting us control the narrative? Shitting on us would be a winner with 90+% of AFL fans. Nobody wants a strong Carlton.

You make it sound as though the AFL would never do a backroom deal so a club can try to save face.

At least now we won’t have any “favourites” pressure which might mean we’ll try

i've been saying for a while, this playing group need wins and the positivity that goes with it, more than they need another number 1 pick.

now would be a great time to start winning winnable games.

Don't always agree with you Braithy but on this occasion, you are spot on
It's why the PP debate is such a flowering distraction
Our success will come from a winning culture, not one speculative 18 yo at pick 19

They were still getting the job done before Fyfe went off.

Changes I'd like to see for this match (doubt they will happen however)

Out
Mullett, Caboult, Polson, Lamb

In

Thomas, McKay or Kerr, O'Brien, Lang

I think we need to try a heavy midfield game and have our half forwards and half backs rotating through the centre.

Out: Graham?, Mullet and Casboult

In: Thomas/OBrien?, Kruezer and Lang

I would really like to see Lang, Kennedy and Crippa at the feet of Kruezer rotating with Ed, Murph and Fisher.

"A club", yes, Carlton... not so sure. Everyone enjoyed seeing us hung out to dry on the salary cap cheating, why not go again?

I wouldn't imagine the player or coaches are spending too much time (any time for that matter) thinking about the the priority pick debate. Some of the supporters may be distracted by it, but I doubt the players or coaches would be.

I think we are a reasonable chance in this match.
Six day break for the Lions and they will be feeling all warm and fuzzy after their big win in the west (against a VERY flat and undermanned Freo side)
If we do manage to win I think we will avoid the spoon - we play Gold Coast in a few weeks and I can't see them winning another match without Lynch, and our percentage is currently better than theirs.

I like what Cain Liddle has done here. Shows real leadership IMO.

Asking for a priority pick has very little influence on whether the AFL give us one. Let Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast put their hands out. If the AFL give PP to the Qld clubs, you can be certain that they'll give us one too. Who knows, we might end up with picks 1 and 2, without even asking for it.
