How could you predict or prevent luck like Levi breaking his finger in the last drill of the warm up, and then in the sane game, losing Plowman and Kreuz (who were both playing great) in the first qtr and s half.

I don't know. That's the frustrating part, there's no single link between our injuries that point to a single cause, except they always seem to hit key players at the worst times.

Speaking of 3 minutes’ notice: O’Shea was in the stands and didn’t get to the bench until nine minutes into the game. Tough ask to get into game mode.

Sadly, the first 9 minutes were his most effective.

He did but he fumbles all the time and trying hard is admirable but he is just a battler. I would think Phillips would replace him next week.

Rowe should only be a depth player mainly playing in the bullants, yet he’s asked to play FB, FF and first ruck in the seniors. All in a single game. I don’t think he deserves any criticism.
Agree totally.

Fish had a very slow first half.. Worked his way into it.

Fair dinkum, when a player looks at his tackler and thinks they will break the tackle, so they run through AND DON'T break it.... It's a free

When a player is on the ground, and a player has to kneel over him to get the ball he's lying on... It's not in the back...

Is this stuff hard to understand?

Go Blues

And listening to the ABC today, I learnt that Malthouse picked Cripps for us...
Apparently the 'recruiting guy asked if we should take Cripps or another guy and I told him to take Cripps'

Well, well, well

Missed where he was singing Cameron Giles' praises.... Radio must have been playing up.

Certainly that puts him right on the back foot.
However he stayed poor the whole game and he's been poor all season.
This was his worst game.
O'Shea had the worst 15 mins of footy I've seen from a player in while in that 3rd term. Not AFL standard.

The Carlton Football Club................Now Always Forever.

I think people forget Rowe is coming off a knee reco too.

Maybe. I just admire blokes who get asked to play a totally unfamiliar role on 3 minutes notice, don't cry about it and give it their best. You wouldn't see him 'considering his future'.

To be fair that's because the only AFL team who would have him on a list is us.

Jones took about ten marks and opened up play a lot.
He got beaten one on one once and got caught ball watching once.
He missed one target that cost a shot on goal.

I'd say he did pretty well on the day.

Rowe lined up at CHB and ended up FF and then ruck. He hasn't got the tank for a ruckman or the jump but he still cops a bagging. He's no star but he also did OK.

That was a good effort from the boys but they fell into the trap of kicking it long to Charlie and forgot why they got so close and hit the front earlier.
They have to try and bring that game every week.
Phillips in next week for Kreuzer and Kerr or even de Konig for Levi?

I was expecting a pretty big loss.

You werent even going to get up to watch it.

You still haven't missed a Pies Blues game for.....millenia

Pleased to read you're pleasantly surprised by our young group.

In that head to head stuff ...... the important fact is that we lead the Grand Final count 5 - 1 and I've been lucky enough to witness 3 of those wins

Blues cop sanction for concussion breach

Sliding Doors: round 15

CARLTON has received a suspended fine of $20,000 for breaching the AFL’s concussion protocols in regard to its assessment and management of youngster Cam Polson during the Blues’ loss to Collingwood last Sunday.

The diminutive 20-year-old received a knock to the head in the first quarter of the clash with the Magpies and the Blues have been sanctioned, in part, because they failed to remove him permanently from the field, which they are duty-bound to do under the AFL’s concussion guidelines.

The AFL sought and received a written explanation from the club, interviewed club staff and examined match-day footage, after which it deemed Carlton had breached AFL Regulations and imposed the fine, which is suspended until the end of the 2020 season.

In handing down the sanction, the AFL’s general manager of football operations Steve Hocking revealed the Blues’ medical officer had also failed to note, or misinterpreted, the video signs of concussion and had failed to keep him off the field for the rest of the match, as directed by the AFL Match Head Injury Assessment Form.

Hocking said that mitigating factors, which led to a suspended sanction, included the Blues’ insistence that the video on the interchange bench tablet was “significantly” less clear than the video later provided to the club, and that Polson “was not honest in reporting ‘feeling off’ at the time of the incident”.

Polson, who has played four AFL games, has been named in the Blues’ line-up to take on Port Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday.

It was pretty obvious Polson was knocked out. I was waiting to see if there were any repercussions.
