We’ve long had the issue of players not being fit, strong or prepared enough, which has certainly contributed to our injury and recovery woes. This will well and truly be Russell’s remit. |

Maybe given Russell has the same title now "Director of High Performance" I believe. So Tim Clark was our midfield coach and we replace him with a ruck coach? Then demote Bruce and Barker from senior assistant and head of strategy into midfield and stoppages respectively. Not sure about that. |

Agree a bit underwhelming was expecting more changes, however coaches are well amalgamated now and new rule changes makes Ruck position important, still think midfield coaches could be more inspiring. |

It looks as though the structure has changed, so who can say for sure. But was there not a review of our coaching structure at the end of the season? It might appear at first glance that Bruce has been "demoted" from Senior Asst. But that could just be a change of title, and I don't recall Stanton specifically being a "Midfield" development coach last year, so how do we know Stanton won't be the one moving the witch's hats while Bruce still maps out the plans? There is of course Russell's role to consider as well. Does he take on some of the responsibility the ASST coaches originally had? Re: McIntosh, looking at the article I didn't realise he's actually been doing coaching since his retirement, so we can't say he's totally inexperienced. The one thing I think most of us can agree on is that Barker is VERY lucky. |

That group won premierships... and we were hoping we would get Mitchell from Perth, where he had a great influence. Have you considered maybe Mitchell learned some of his craft from Bruce? Bruce wasn't demoted. Where is all of this coming from? Got keogh in another thread claiming our list turnover of 42 players isn't a real rebuild, then I read words describing the off field appointments as 'demotions' and 'uninspiring'. I get enough negative crap from the Carlton hating media and everyone who despises our past success. Yes some people still consider our past success as relevant. Barker has not been demoted to stoppages...he was still doing that last year too. There's a cap on off field spending and we have appointed brilliantly: Andrew Russell is another great addition (see Shane Crawfords opinion of the appointment. Carlton off field appointments/team I give an A. |

Everything we have been doing off field is a step in the right direction. Recent appointees: Bruce from reigning premiers Stanton a great midfielder fresh from retirement and passionate Carlton man. Teague from the highest kicking forward line Sav Rocca reappointed after cutting costs in his area and realising the mistake Andrew Russell as the best mental and physical coach in the business drawing up individual programs for each and every player Shane Watson was pinched from under Brad Scotts nose at NM where he was a great defensve coach. Amos and Fraser I don't know anything about, but that's no reason to bag them. Nevertheless, the strategy seems to be to recruit the best of breed. I'm impressed, and I bet not only are the kids (and there's a lot of them under 23yo) and their parents know their kids are in good hands. No one asked to be traded away from Carlton Football Club. There's a reason for that and it starts with the boss: Bolton the teacher |

It's good to see Amos returning to coach the backline again. They functioned very well as a unit in 2017 when he was calling the shots. It's good to rotate the coaches for their development but 2-3 years on the one line should be a minimum. |
