Simmo joins the Game Changers

The Carlton Football Club is delighted to announce that club champion Kade Simpson will join its AFLW program as an assistant coach.

One of the most beloved Blues of all time, Simpson is a welcome addition to Daniel Harford’s coaching staff for the 2021 season.

It is a significant boost for the Game Changers who will see Simpson share his wealth of experience gained across 342 games and 18 seasons at the elite level.

Jobs for the boys for the girls

Good/great (albeit obvious) get

I might be in the minority, but hope he was the best man for the job

Best man for the job.

Wealth of experience.

Reminds Carlton players the significance of the jumper, and loyalty to your team mates and club.

We are going places.

Good thing is he will work with the girls and the young developing fellas.
He will guide them with their running patterns and when and where to run.

This is huge !!!!

Good mentor for the work ethic required at AFL level and more importantly, playing for the jumper.

Do they mean ruck-rover coach?

Great to have around the club, but I agree with you GWS, his ruck technique was nothing to write home about.... It was his roving, particularly to his own taps which went down to his feet... about 99% of the time

Go Blues

It shows how opinions vary. I think Kreuzer has a fantastic grasp of ruck technique. It's his comparative lack of size and athleticism that lets him down. Couple that with the AFL imposed restrictions around centre bounce ruck work and his value is greatly diminished. But put him in a forward line stoppage where he can use his guile and experience and he's as good as any.

Nic Nat acknowledged Kreuzer as his toughest opponent.

Gawn said similar.

Grundy didn't go as far as saying that but alluded to it.

Kreuzer rucked like Kreuzer.

Not all rucks are the same.

TDK will be a better tap ruckman. But if he can learn determination, second efforts, and where/when to run into open spaces and burning off your opponent will be a huge asset

Regardless of what happens with Voss, Hamill and Clarke need to go. Hamill 10 years at St Kilda from 2012 - 2021 when they were garbage. Lloyd cut Clarke at the end of 2018, he goes to GC of all places for 3 years and then Lloyd re-hires him. Coaches from bad systems trying to support a senior coach not renowned for his tactical nous. No wonder the coaching is average. Brad Lloyd is to blame for recruiting these two. He can go with them at the end of the year.

I always thought that Clarke was an interesting choice.

Does anyone know the positive argument as to why he appealed to us?

Did Voss want him, or was he 'suggested' to him?

I reckon Lloyd comes up with one target and when they say no, he either begs & promises beyond his capacity, or just goes bin dipping.

He’s been phoning it in from day one.

Lloyd is the problem, Russell & the merry go round of assistants are a symptom of that problem.

I’d promote Luke Power to Head of Football. Not necessarily because he’s the best, but because it’s going to cost too much to do anything else. Plus, it’ll get him out of the coaches box.

Chase Chris Bell from the Doggies to run High Performance. He’s a ripping bloke that has no designs on being anything other than the best at what he already does.

Restructure the development program to include the women’s teams as well as the academy & use the program to try and rebuild the bridges that have been burned in the last half a century.
