I'd like to see us go in a lot smaller this week, we can't keep letting teams run us off our feet all and make our mids carry such a heavy load. Shame Kennedy and Pickett probably need a few more VFL games though.

We need one of Rowe, Jones or Plowman out and one, maybe two of Kerr, JSOS or Casboult out.

For this week I'd go
Out: Rowe, Kerr
In: Polson, Cuningham if available otherwise Pickett.

Kennedy, Pickett, McKay and Murphy back soon. Marchbank not too long after hopefully.

Plowman Jones Simpson
Thomas Weitering Garlett
LOB Cripps Fisher
SPS Curnow Silvagni
Polson Casboult Wright
Kreuzer Curnow Dow
Kerridge Graham Lamb Lang

By the end of the year

Plowman Weitering Simpson
Thomas Marchbank LOB
Fisher Cripps Murphy
Pickett Curnow SPS
Casboult McKay Wright
Kreuzer Curnow Kennedy
Dow Cuningham Kerridge Lang

I’d give Polson and Pickett a chance as the small forwards underneath McKay and Casboult.

Polson had double digit tackles at the weekend, pressure is what we need. Hopefully he snags a goal or two to add to 5 tackles inside 50

Pressure on back lines from our forwards has been sorely missing most of the year. If Polson can bring some of that pressure then he should be in for the rest if the year. Pickett will add to that but also can be the X factor and injection of speed around the ground that we have been without all year. Would be good if Garlett could also be added but he's struggling to measure up so far.

Justified but he wasn't alone on the day, first half was awful by just about all of them. He has a great work rate most weeks and is one of the few that can run for four quarters and win an adequate amount of the ball. I'd keep him in until genuinely better players can replace him, I'd like to see what he can do one some of our other mids mature.

Having just read the VFL review I don’t think I can justify calling up Pickett this week. Maybe Polson instead.

Pickett is underdone ... Polson can't get a kick in the NB's.

I would bring in De Koning, Kennedy, Garlett.
Leave out Casboult, Graham, ?.

Agree with the 3 you nominate.

If Kerr stays in, I'd like to see him show some mongrel like Casboult does.

Graham couldn't go close to Collingwoods speedy mids.

I'd drop Kerridge and Rowe for the embarrassing efforts and skill errors.
Make a statement!!

Our backline should consist of 3 talls: Weitering Marchbank Plowman
Jones replaces Marchbank whilst he's injured.

I'm hoping Cuningham is back too.

Kerridge wasn't alone, but he was one of the worse offenders, and should know better.
Whats he point in playing him for his running ability when he chooses when he will commit?

I watched the first half again. If Wright, Curnow and Co. kicked a few of those easy shots we wouldnt be highlighting the shortfalls the whole team.
Umpiring was also an obvious factor for the ball going one way most of the time.
The fumbling was putrid. Kerridges and Rowes hands are not what you call AFL standard.

Who takes Cox? Other than Linda Lovelace, its Rowe or Jones.
Well both of them shouldnt be playing this weekend. IMO ones stays to mind Cox.

The footage of Rowe and Kerridge last night on OTC was damning. Cannot possibly be selected to play this week.

Saw that. Looked terrible but in Rowe's defence. He was cooked. He had run up and back a couple of times and was trying to get off. After the goal he ran to the bench only to be sent back. We were so disorganised it was a joke. It was like we didn't expect Freo to setup the way they did.
Just another disaster on a disastrous day.

Cooked early in the first quarter?
Playing as a stay at home defender?

Well if so, he's not fit enough play AFL.

Maybe he had a virus over the break and was still recovering, only he knows really.

Docherty has hinted last week that at least some of the boys had come back after the bye with some sort of illness.

Watching Ed Curnow on the weekend I thought he must be sick or drunk or something. Shadow of his usual self.

I'm not doubting that but what happened in the second half, they overcame their illness?

Interesting reading Kennedys comments after the VFL game. He said he's looking forward to gaining confidence in his body and his form in the VFL.
If I was the coach, I'd be telling him "you picked up 29 possessions and 12 clearances last week, you can play AFL and come and take the heat of the first year players"!
@#$%&! playing VFL.
I'm sure Dow and Fish could do with a nice leisurely trot around in the 2's as well but life doesn't work that way.

Weather's looking OK, Kennedy, De Koning and Garlett to play. I'd still consider Pickett.
A small, running forward line.

@#$%&! the Pies. They don't have a tall match up for De Koning. It's a good time to bring him in IMHO.

I read that as well and found it quite interesting. I wonder if he was told he might be doing a short stint in the vfl to get some form and confidence back which is why he said that?
